Anonymous I consider genital mutilation performed on anyone, especially babies, without their consent one of the most heinous forms of sexual abuse as its effects are permanently damaging both physically and psychologically. That it is usually sanctioned and performed by those people in whom the victims should most trust, is ironically sickening.
Anonymous—USA Humanistic parities should be left untouched and uncut!
Anonymous—Romania It's a realy bad things to circumcise a boy.
Anonymous—USA Not in favor of infant circumcision (male or female).
Anonymous—USA My son is uncut. He could not give his permission as a newborn. Enough said.
Anonymous—USA I do not believe that most people know what they are doing. If the parents were formally educated during child birth classes in a honest way, I do not think that they would make the decision to circumcise. People who want their child to look like their father need a reality check. That is not a valid reason to cause a child harm, there is never a good reason to cause a child harm or unnecessary pain. Parenting requires education thru communication which may sometimes be uncomfortable or challenging, isn't your child worth it. It is amazing what a child can understand. Explain to them why they look different! Start educating children and soon it will not be strange to not be mutilated. It will also teach your child acceptance of others who may be different from them and the world becomes a better place. Let's heal the world starting with our children.
Anonymous—USA It should not be legal to endanger and harm a child for cosmetic purposes.
Anonymous I have read and thought about all of the manipulative statements and so-called facts, regarding circumcison. I believe it to be barbaric, inhuman, torture and shameful, to subject this abuse on any individual against their consent and especially as a new-born child, when the human being cannot decide for himself. Manipulating or forcing boys or men into having their penises disfigured, on religious grounds is particularly offensive. However, suggesting that a circumcised penis is better than an intact one, as well as that it is unhygenic, the cause of disease and other vile allegations, is an affront to the dignity of the male human being. LEAVE FORESKINS ALONE!
Anonymous—USA I for one am very happy that i am an intact male in the US. It happens that i slipped by the knife because my parents were short on cash at the time and left me that way. i have never had any health related problems because i was left intact. I feel that it is not me or me woman's place to decide is our child is or is not left intact and the nurse attempted to cut our child even though WE SAID NO! I am HPV free and so is my wife to be. That means that there is no reason the have me cut. Therefore there is no reason to cut my child. If he wish's it he may do so himself when he is old enough to make an informed decision. As for the "performance" you gain by being circumcised that is bull. I have gone stroke for stroke agents some of the best in the industry for longer. I pity the men under the knife. the sensitivity they lose is phenomenal. I mean cutting two thirds of the nerves in your dick off then the remaining become scared over and then deaden because of the constant rubbing on cloths. wow i really like that my parents didn't cut me so i passed it on and educate all i can find who will listen.
Anonymous—USA I think it is appalling that genital mutilation and amputation be allowed. Parents and doctors ought to be educated about the function of the foreskin and the pain and lifetime difficulties caused by removing it. Please pass a law to protect genital integrity!
Anonymous—USA It terrifies that people don't seem to be aware of what they are doing, they just do it because everybody else does it and they don't want their kids to be different or teased at school. But then they see as a horror when they hear about genital mutilation in Africa or elsewhere, well, what is the difference? There is such a huge lack of information, it makes me so sad. Nobody should ever be mutilated, ever. Thank you for your efforts.
Anonymous—USA All genital mutilation, including male and female circumcision, should be considered criminal acts when committed against any unconsenting baby, child or adult, regardless of real or assumed religious affiliation. Consent should be considered valid ONLY when the individual has reached the age of majority and such consent should be either be witnessed by two independent, non-interested parties or notarized by a licensed notary public.
Anonymous—USA Male circumcision is a process where an infant is immobilized and has his foreskin stretched, clamped, crushed, cut, and removed. Circumcision is a violation of an infant's right to choose what happens to his body. Medical studies have proven that babies feel pain many times greater than adults because the spinal cord has yet to develop a natural resistance to pain. Jesus Christ told us "If it [circumcision] were beneficial, their father would beget them already circumcised from their mother." How can we force our sons to be genitally mutilated? Why can't we afford male children the same protections as female children with regards to genital mutilation?
Anonymous—Portugal Only recently have I become aware of how many boys were still circumcised in the USA. I was completely astounded when I found out, I didn't want to believe it. I live across the ocean in Europe but it had never crossed my mind that that practice was still so used. 99.99999% of the men I know didn't really get their genitals infected when they were kids or needed in any other way to be circumcised. What is wrong with the american society? I wasn't circumcised. I simply visited the doctor regularly and my mother gave me a good hygiene. I'm pretty sure it's nothing mothers can't provide in the USA. As for female mutilation, I don't even want to get started. It's so vile and brutal I believe people who do it are some of the very few who earn the death penalty in my heart. No God accepts crippled old people on wheelchairs but shuns a small boy with foreskin! God is supposed to be good in all religions and always embraces children first! What is wrong with people? Why is everyone so afraid of God? Shouldn't people be afraid of the Devil or something?
Anonymous—USA People should know that any medical benefits of circumcision are too small to warrant the practice.
Anonymous—USA I am so glad people are finally recognizing what butchers these doctors are who perform these inherently cruel, senseless acts on our newborn baby boys - just for being born male!!! I call it the American Tragedy. I refused to have my baby circumcised when he was born, and I had to fight my ex-husband on my decision. We are supposed to protect our babies, not surrender them to butchers to have an extremely sensitive & useful part of their bodies cut off (without anesthesia, without medical necessity, and WITHOUT THEIR CONSENT! Thank you for letting me vent.
Anonymous—USA Let's get this done so there will no longer be the 'societal' pressure on my new-parents-to-be as to whether they 'should' circumcisize their sons even against the reams of evidence presented to them against the practice. I am sad of seeing the worry and confusion of making this horrendous decision on their faces during their pregnancies, a time when they should be relishing the joyful, spiritual event they are experiencing.
Anonymous—USA I believe that it causes bedwetting in young boys and prostate problems later on.
Anonymous I hope and pray, for the sake of the child, that this barbaric procedure is eliminated within this generation.
Anonymous—USA I'm almost three years into restoring my foreskin through stretching techniques. At times I'm very upset that I underwent this surgery as an infant. It really took it's toll on the quality of sexual response at the age of 43. It's been quite a long, tedious process to get some of my sensitivities back.
Anonymous—USA Children should not have to worry about whether or not they will be mutilated upon arrival. Gential integrity to all!!
Anonymous—USA There will be a day in our lifetime when male genital mutilation will be seen by all as the barbaric practice that it is.
Anonymous—USA RIC is supported by lies. Stop the Med. schools from teaching circ. is good.
Anonymous—USA Like many, I suffered a botched, unnecessary circumcision as a young boy. I support this modern intelligent movement to end the stupidity and ignorance of circumcision 100%.
Anonymous—USA I have always felt that this "surgery" is a terrible and cruel thing to do to a baby boy. There is no medical reason to perform this "surgery" and it should therefore be banned. Even though numerous medical organizations have come out to state that this is not a necessary "surgery" many in the health care community still believe that it is something that must be done. The major reason for still performing this surgery is that society states it should be done! It is time for something to be done about this. In my profession I have been witness to countles doctors stating that they know it is not necessary, but continue to perform it because they also know that they will get paid for doing it. They see it as purely a source of revenue! To be fair, I have also met a fair share of physicians who are completely against it and speak out reguarly against it. I find solace in seeing that many insurances are starting to stop paying for it and some hospitals will not perform it without payment in full before the procedure. We can only hope this leads tot the end of this mutilation. I have unfortunately been witness to a few circumcisions having unsucessfully tried to convince the parents not to go through with it, and have witnessed first hand what effects it has on the baby. I have seen baby boys stop breathing, I have seen them scream in terror and I have seen them be rushed to the emergency room due to complications. If the parents only saw what their son had to go through, they would never want this mutilation performed. I find it interesting that some people are so anxious to have this procedure done to their sons and they don't even realize what it's doing to their sons. THERE IS NO OTHER SURGERY PERFORMED IN THE WORLD THAT REMOVES HEALTHY TISSUE JUST BECAUSE IT IS THERE! Because these baby boys can't speak for themselves, it is up to us to speak for them.
Anonymous—USA Every child, male or female, have a right to bodily integrity.
Anonymous—USA As a 39 year old male with Cerebral Palsy I'm glad I'm not circumcized. Sometuimes when I get an erection, the head of my penis rubs against my pants and drives me crazy. I can't imagine not having a foreskin and having my clothing rub against the head of my penis all the time. But being I can actually write a comment let me just toss something out for everyone to think about. Dr. Kellog was a big supporter of circumcision because he thought it prevented masturbation. My type of Cerebral Palsy is USUALLY associated with a leaning disahility. Although I'm in a wheelchair and have to talk and sing through a communication device, I live on my own and have a totally normal life. I masturbated since infancy and I believe that by having regular orgasms, it helped to stimulate certain areas of my brain. I've been told my theory is nuts, yet when a baby is circumcized, he goes into shock because the pain is so great. What if this state of shock causes certain brain cells to die or not devalop later in life? Iof so, why couldn't pleasure help to devalop brain cells? It's natural for boys to touch their penises. I can't help but think this is not only a natural thing but a healthy and needed thing in human devalopment. Through circumcision, you are ingraving a pain so deep that an emoptional part of the child is taken away. And once ab kid discovers that a part of his penis was taken away, thaty inner feeling of loss is connected and hre can never feel 100 percent complete. Kids who are adopted often never feel comp, lete until they meet their biological parents. They could be in the best families growing up, and although they have never been in contact with their birth mother, they just feel something is missing. So if we know and understand this, why is it a stretch to say that by removing a foreskin, you are also removing a man's personal identity? Even if a boy never lived a day with a foreskin, he still misses it, just as he would miss not knowing his biological parents. Finally, I was sexually abused by my adopted Dad and we were both uncircumcized. He was so sick that when I was 12 he wanted us borh to be circumcized at the same time because he thought it would bring us closer together. Fprtionetely it never happened. But how do you think I felt knowing that my Dad could hall me into the Doctor at any time for a circumcision and I would have no say in it? I'm very open to discussing sex and circumcision because I think it needs to be talked about. I invite letters and E-mails because life is all about learning from each other. And believe it or not, I have to be the only person in the United States that doesn't even get junk mail. I even requst to have my name ADDED to different mailings but I get nothing! So feel free to write or E-mail me. Especially on this topic because it needs to be openly talkmed about. And hey, if anyone needs an entertainer at an anti-circumcision event, contavct me. I don't get shocked or embarrassed, and people just need to be educated.
Anonymous—USA Every human being has the right to decide what happens to his or her own body. Not have that decision made for them.
Anonymous—USA As a society, we are obligated to protect our children. For any free nation to allow the mutilation or amputation of healthy living tissue without cause or reason is unthinkable. That this pratice is routinely carried out on infants is unconscionable.
Anonymous—USA War, as we pursued it in Iraq and other countries, also mutilates children. I declare that I am against mutilation for religion or profit.
Anonymous—USA I believe it is a basic human right that all people should be allowed to go through life with all their body parts intact and whole. Men should have the same rights when it comes to body intigrety.
Anonymous—USA The costs to the individual and Society far outway any of the benefits that have been suggested currently and in the past.
Anonymous—USA There is too much ignorance when it comes to this subject and it needs to be known out there that circumcision is NOT the way, also if boys aren't circumcised a lot of doctors will recommend parents retract the skin and that is also very ignorant and incorrect. I was a victim of my own ignorance and retracted my son's skin until I did some research and actually even cancelled his surgery days before he was supposed to go in, because it was recommended by his doctor to get one done.
Anonymous—USA We made the grave mistake of circumcizing our first son. I had to turn off a part of myself to witness that. After having a natural, glowing pregnancy and drug-free beautiful birth, we did that to our son. It made no sense. You can probably tell I'm still angry about it. I teach couples in my childbirth classes about the risks and damage of circumcision and give them my personal experience to contemplate. I have convinced many people to not circumcize. WIth our second son, born at home, there was no way in hell I would ever do that again. My husband was still not convinced, but this was something he knew I would never back down from. Thank you for doing this. Bridget
Anonymous—USA All children have a right to genital integrity.
Anonymous—USA Performing circumcision on minors is, I believe, a violation of human rights. Our society’s acceptance of routine circumcision for unconsenting males is unconscionable. Extreme greed for profits and personal control over the lives of our children seems to drive routine circumcision of unconsenting minors. Bringing a legal stop to infant genital mutilation is long overdue in all countries where it is practices, especially in the United States of America. Please take a stand against this practice and stop the mutilation of our male children.
Anonymous—USA many parents get their child circumcised just because they dont want to have to clean under the foreskin of the child. they raise the child for only 18 years and the child only needs the help of their parents to clean themselves until about age 6. how selfish of the parents it is to take away part of their child's body for any reason. if circumcision has any significant medical benefits, let the child decide what he wants to happen when he gets older and is educated.
Anonymous—USA I regret that I was circumcised against my will.
Anonymous I did not circumsize my son in 1981 due to the blatant lack of purpose, horror of mutilation, and the pain suffered from a torturous procedure to a tiny infant. When he turned 21 years old, I asked him if he was happy about my decision and his response "yes". I then asked if he'd allow this to happpen to his child, and his response was absolutely not... 'nuff said.
Anonymous As having been circumcised as an infant I feel like I have been raped by the world with its morbid use of routine circumcision (most typical of America). I would to see routine circumcision stopped altogether, not just for women but for men as well. Men have been tortured enough already. It is time to give back rights to those who need it the most, the infants who have no say in the matter.
Anonymous—USA Genital mutilation of children of any age is a ridiculous, antiquated, uncivilized form of initiation still practiced by the Jewish Religion and as a member of the Jewish Community, I feel it is long past due that we evolve away from this practice. It is not compatible with my interpretation of scripture or commandment or anything holy.
Anonymous—USA Intact genitals are a basic human right.
Anonymous—USA I belive the disparity on the issues between the sexes is an unhealthy reflection on how we treat males in the UK.
Anonymous—Spain There is a great hipocrisy when it's spoken about genital mutilations, the governments and human right's assotiations always forget to say NO to male mutilation. Please, don't forget men.
Anonymous—USA Without a medical requirement, neonatal circumcision is a barbaric act that belongs in the dark ages of human history, not the 21st century. There is no other term for this act than child abuse.
Anonymous—USA Circumcision is an optional, permanent alteration to a human body. Circumcision without the consent of the affected person is an invasion on his (and in the other form, her) individual human right. It is a violation, for circumcision 'destorys' the natural body, which all humans are entitled to, or have rights to at and before birth.
Anonymous—USA Circumcision is mutilation and torture. It was performed on me as an adolescent under religious pressure without a general anesthetic. Words fail when trying to describe the pain. Its a hot knife to the brain. It has caused permanent feelings of regret, sadness and anger in myself. I cannot enjoy sensual pleasures that every healthy person has a right to. I have to live with the trauma and pain for the rest of my life. I would not wish it be done on my worst enemy.
Anonymous—USA Let people decide for themselves what surgery they want. Don't let society and religion damage their bodies before they know what is going on.
Anonymous—USA Thank GOODNESS my son WASN'T circumcised (he's 5 yrs old currently) .... He was 5 wks prematurely born, and the procedure was not done although I BLINDLY signed the consent form. After the doctor opting to "not do it yet"..... I learned MUCH about female genital mutilation across the globe and CERTAINLY I feel no differently about male mutilation than I do about female mutilation - I am OPPOSED TO IT. I was REALLY horrified to have a P.A. (physician's assistant) PUSH for circumcision recently during a routine doctor visit, INSISTING that being intact places a male at HIGH RISK for cancer of the penis. This "info" was NOT founded in medical facts...and should never have been given... I am horrified that SO MANY BOYS are forced to have part of their body REMOVED for no good reason under VERY painful hideous conditions when they are MOST helpless: as babies.... a LAW must be passed to prevent the perpetuation of this atrocity and violation of human rights... Babies are being mutilated when parents ignorantly/blindly sign the consent (in many cases, I think the parents are BULLDOZED into signing it....) BRAVO to doctors and hospitals that refuse to perform this unnecessary mutilation.
Anonymous—USA Before my son was born, I thought he should look like me and wanted him circumcised. My wife persuaded me to wait 10 days (the time our pediatricial gave us) before making a decision. Once we got him home and I fell in love with him, I realized it wasn't necessary to harm him. He looked just fine. When he was about 5 he saw me in the shower and asked me why my penis looked the way it did. I told him that in the old days, people thought that part of the body wasn't needed and so they cut it off. He was quiet for a while and then he said, "Thanks for not doing that to me." What if everyone had to wait just 10 days by law before they could circumsize their child?
Anonymous—USA This practice should be made illegal and money should be invested in research to reverse this abominable act.
Anonymous—Australia I am stunned by the people who still practice this barbaric ritual, total ignorance of the workings of the male penis is one, denial from the males is another, but refusing to listen to another's point of view I just can't hack. When they come up with their argument that there's nothing wrong with me and I'm going to have all my future kids done I could almost go away and weep for the unborn child and the sexual mutation he is going to receive on his birth, plus all the hang ups he's going to receive. Ignorance will not be an issue here as he will be the odd one out and what he is missing will be available to him on the internet. I despair on how can we get through to this 6% of wackers with closed minds. It should be a dying circumcised males duty to go out and shoot the doctor who mutilated him at birth. (Joking, but at least I can think this.) Laws should be passed that circumcision can only be carried out for the most urgent medical reasons and need three surgeons to approve the operation, and the actual surgery carried out by a surgeon. Also payment is against the law to the doctor who carries out the surgery, he has to do it free, and an administration cost to the hospital only can be made.
Anonymous—USA First off, the cons outweigh any pros. Cons of circumcision: Psychological trauma, damage to 80% of erogenous tissue, amputation of important immune defense systems found in the foreskin, size of penis is affected, child suffers massive pain during the procedure without their consent, higher chance of STD's being transmitted due to loss of protective tissue, gland kerytanization, discoloration of penis, the person will feel less pleasure, the gliding motion of intact men is gone(this makes vaginal sex more difficult), hairs might grow further up on the shaft then normal (causing discomfort in women), gland becomes desynthesized, the person is visually scarred for life, a feeling of emptiness and depression have been reported in many of these individuals, and most importantly this was all done without THEIR FUCKING PERMISSION!! No one has the right to decide ANYTHING regarding ANOTHER person's body. The excuse of "so the father and son look the same" is pure bullshit! There is no evidence to back this up, in addition that person is not going to see the father naked for the rest of their fucking lives! So if your father lost an arm in war should your arm be removed so that they "look the same"?! Unless if you are a genetic clone of your father, you will NEVER look the same. Never should you amputate this healthy and extremely important tissue for religious purposes, the child is not your property! Nor is ANY child born religious, religion is taught and learned not innately given at birth. Just because you are Jewish or Muslim, or any one of the 43,940 different religions (that is the best current world estimate), does not mean that your child will be! Male Genital Mutilation is nothing more than sexual repression, used in a time when there was little hygiene, little medical knowledge, and much more barbaric practices still used. We now know that to clean this organ all you need to do is wash it once per day, thats it!! Before it was used to curb masturbation, as it was thought to bring about mental illness. We now know this to be untrue, masturbation is normal, safe, fun, and promotes good health. It has also been shown through multiple studies that women prefer uncut (intact) men. The reason for this is that it is not irritating, the organ is smoother and glides easily, and in addition the male is reported to go softer and longer when uncut, whereas the cut man does not. Pros of circumcision: the ignorant parents feel good about mutilating their child's sexual organs without his consent.
Anonymous—USA I believe that no group, religion, or government has the right to demand a unconsenting sentient being to a procedure that permanently negatively affects that beings body without clear and convincing evidence that it is medically necessary AND that to do nothing would cause more harm than the procedure itself. Religions MUST evolve with the people who practice them. Scientific evidence has shown that permanent changes occur. We must respect the individuality of every individual. If that person grows up and wants that "procedure" done, then they have the right to "choose" it. If the choice is made for an infant, the child has no way of reversing that "choice" when s/he grows up because the damage is permanent.
Anonymous—USA I am against circumcision. I think it is barbaric to submit your child to unnecessary surgery. We need to educate parents about this procedure. I myself was not aware that babies did not get anesthesia, and or that the anesthesia used was topical. In addition, I did not know that circumcision was considered unnecessary. It was pure luck that my baby angel was left intact. How many parents out there will have their babies circumized out of ignorance?
Anonymous—USA Both males and females have the right to their own bodily integrity. People have been living for hundreds of thousands of years without circumcision. Circumcision is stated as being of "no medical benefit" by the American Society of Pediatrics. This violent procedure on a helpless infants causes loss of correct bodily sexual function for both males and females, with permanent consequences. Potential connection between the high degree of sexual dysfunction reported in the US (and medications developed to alleviate this) and the high degree of circumcision practiced in the US needs some detailed research. Circumcision needs to be a personal decision for people over 18 years old who can make that choice for themselves. It should never be done on a helpless infant strapped down on a cutting table. We do not circumcise our dogs and cats, and would be
Anonymous—USA These doctors that circumcise innocent babies make me sick and should be prosecuted.
Anonymous—USA I have assisted in newborn circumcision in several local hospitals. I was taught in nursing school that these infants "felt pain differently" and this was an important preventive procedure. I was ignorant until I was pregnant with my son and sought out more information on my own. Now I consider infant circumcision to be legalized child abuse. It amazes me how many in the medical profession intentionally remain just as ignorant when it comes to this abuse as they do in regard to the murder of unborn children. I hope and pray that both procedures will be stop soon!
Anonymous—USA Every child deserves an intact reproductive/sexual system!
Anonymous—United Kingdom I believe I was circumcised shortly after birth. I was not told about it, though my older sister made a reference during childhood that must have been about the event of my circumcising. I never understood why some boys had penises that looked different until my early teens. I am now 57 and only in the last year have I found out the facts about what happens during circimcision, having previously believed the lies about the foreskin being no more than a useless little flap of skin. I do not blame my parents for having it done; after all, they were told the same lies as me. I do blame the people who knew and didn't tell people the truth when they were making decisions about circumcising their children. Now I am just angry and a bit sad about what has been done to me and others because of this pointless ignorance and heartless secrecy. It may only be a small cruelty to circumcise a child, but in a world of so much cruelty we can at least prevent this senseless cruelty done on behalf of well-meaning but uninformed people.
Anonymous—USA Genital circumcision is mutilation of the innocent. It is tantamount to torture and disfigurement which no parent should be allowed to practice on their children. No medical nor scientific necessity for its use exists in the 21st Century, and this violation of the young should be eliminated in all religious and cultural ideologies.
Anonymous—USA It must stop! I have had something taken from me that I want back...and can never have. It is an evil practice.
Anonymous—Canada Les mutilations génitales sont des procédures dégradantes et inhumaines.Ce sont des gestes inutiles.
Anonymous—USA Another Jew for genital integrity for ALL children
Anonymous—USA I'm disgusted by circumcision and it's an obvious violation of rights. It's a lot like pulling teeth just to prevent cavities, and that's just stupid. In addition, it's a double standard, because it would not only be considered inhumane to perform the surgery on women, even performing circumcisions on male animals of any species would likely be considered inhumane. It's just gross and I don't support any part of it.
Anonymous—Canada This practice needs to be seen for the mutilation of baby boys that it is. If it is illegal for baby girls, the same should apply to baby boys, who do not have a choice, cannot say no. It is a direct violation of their bodies and their basic human rights.
Anonymous—USA its WRONG!!
Anonymous—USA Don't snip / don't clip the male penis.
Anonymous—USA It is wrong since there is no real purpose. I feel if a man wants to undergo circumcision he should be able to make that desicion later when he can choose for himself and decide how he would like to manage the pain of circumcision.
Anonymous—USA Please put an end to this horrible practice. Being born a boy is not a crime, they do not deserve to be punished. Every person deserves to be able to be born and start their life without being hurt, please, don't take part of their bodies away from them, it is so cruel, it is their right to keep all of their bodies, not yours to take away from them a very sensitive and pleasurable part of their most sensitive organs that they would most likely like to keep! Please end this madness!
Anonymous—USA Would you cut off your foot? Just becuase it might get athleats foot or migh get stinky and be hard to wash, my goodness you have to bend over twice and then there is the risk of sliping and falling if you dont get all the soap off (I know this becuase it have done this). THEN WHY DO WE CUT OFF THE FORESKIN!!!!!! I could understand if it was for religious reasons and done the way it was origally was done, but I am not a Jew. The state of Alabama ignorantly decided it was a good idea (I was adopted my parents did not make the choice neither did my birth Mother).
Anonymous—USA I cannot for the life of me figure out why circumcision is still commonplace in the United States. Every one of my friends and family members with boy has had them circumcised and each of them does it because Baby's dad is circumcised and they want him to look the same. But even circumcised, how many years will it be before those sons' penises "look the same" as Dad's, and by then, who's standing around comparing? It just makes no sense to me.
Anonymous—Canada I'm canadian and here circumcision is practice for around 20% of boys. USA is the only country who boys are cut for a stupid reason to be like father or other boys.
Anonymous—USA This act is the most inhuman act I have seen and experienced unfortunately. The trauma that they are doing to our children is dispicable and we have no idea the implications it can have on their lives following such an act. The human body was not designed with too many parts that need to be removed as soon as possible. We have learned the mistake of this way of thinking with the appendix, tonsils, thymus, spleen, etc. (Well mayble not all of us have recognized this) Our bodies are an amazing creation of the perfection that holds our universe together. Only the lack of recognition of this fact, and complete separation of human from spirit can allow such an act. I am strongly opposed to "elective" surgery for these reasons and will do everything in my power to change this ignorance of life from continuing.
Anonymous—USA Anyone interested in Banning Corporal Punishment of Children checkout site: www.stophitting .org
Anonymous—USA I was circumcised as an infant. A stranger to my family tied me to an operating table and performed a surgically mutilating procedure on my sexual reproductive organ, without my consent. My human right to a natural body was torn from me, before I could even comprehend the significance. The fact that America endorses this disgusting insanity is embarrassing. You have NO pride, America. You claim to be a nation under God, but you violate his temple in your men. Just wait until you're under God's finger. All of the doctor's that have sexually mutilated children for money will surely feel the wrath.
Anonymous—Australia This is a barbaric "tradition" and should be stopped, allow all Men to live their lives how they wish to.
Anonymous—USA bad.
Anonymous—Canada Why should anyone be able to amputate a part of your body unless it is you yourself making that decision for whatever reason
Anonymous—Yugoslavia I think that anyone who does this to their child is a horrible parent. I don't care what reason they quote, religious (if this is more important than your child's well being, you don't deserve to have children), hygienic (most often they say that boys have to learn how to clean themselves there. Well why don't you just pluck out all of their teeth, so they don't have to learn how to brush them either), or medical("It reduces risk of getting AIDS by 60%!" Ever heard of condoms? 99.9% of sexual encounters are safe if you use them). "I've been circumcised, and I enjoy sex just as much". Well, you have no idea how sex WITH a foreskin feels, do you? I think you're just trying to justify your parents' actions so you wouldn't clash with their believes. This is a remnant of crappy quasi medicine that treated people with leeches and mercury fumes. The only reason it hasn't been stopped are the large sums of money doctors make from doing this, and before you call me a conspiracy theorist, use your brain. It's not that hard to put two and two together. Insurance + greed = mutilated children. This should be illegal, since you're mutilating a minor, and I don't care how you put it, you're are hurting your own son, and IF you insist on being such an idiot, at least wait for your son to reach mature age (21 at least, he needs to try sex out first), BEFORE you take away a piece of his body for no reason whatsoever. DOing this has to be stopped Sincerely, a concerned mother.

Anonymous—Australia I have been campaigning, privately, for many years and now on the internet. I am an intact male (and thank God everyday!). From what I have seen and found on the net, such widespread 'socalled routine' circumcision throughout the USA (and an influence flow-on to Canada) was due to a very specialized propaganda campaign to 'scare' people into agreeing to have their newly-born sons mutilated ..... but the fairly recent exposure of what was really going on has stunned a lot of people - the outright 'rorting' of the system where parents paid to have their sons circumcised, and then these 'amputated prepuces' were sold (by the kilogram !!!!!) to medical and research institutions for skin cultures, etc. Males boys were mutilated for the sake of making money - profit - the evil dollar !!! (There are several sites on the net dealing with this revelation - .....foreskin4sale !!!) "Circumcised fathers are in denial."
Anonymous—United Kingdom Genital mutilation is a blatant form of child abuse that should be banned. If my mother ever found out what she had done to my mind...
Anonymous—USA I had my penis circucised at a young age and I find that it is now desensitized to lots of feeling and I think any kind of genital mutilation on a child is wrong.
Anonymous—USA America is officially the land of Hypocracy. It's illegal to do things to your own body (like certain drugs) but it's perfectly legal to do something as disgusting, sadistic, and pervasive and mutilating someone elses genitals-on a fucking newborn infant nonetheless! there's so much bullshit behind the 'debate' and that's EXACTLY what they want. They love it when people argue about whether it's medically beneficial or not. That way, people will completely ignore the whole point. the point is: in a REAL free and democratic society, everyone would have the right to their own body. something that americans have never had.
Anonymous My little boy was born perfect and healthy. Why would I mess with success?
Anonymous My husband is circumcised and in great grief over his loss. Please save the future of your son's wife's sexual life as well as his own. Intercourse is much more violent without the foreskin, and is emotionally and sometimes physically painful for the wife to bear. Update: 18 September, 2006 I am proud to say that we now have a 7 month son who is whole, just as he was born. He is sweet and gentle, and has a very incredible disposition. I am asked all the time why he is peaceful, happy, and so gentle of spirit. I always say "He hasn't had anything terrible happen to him yet, he is loved and protected." I think that having a painless birth experience with hypno birthing, and a non traumatic stay at the birth center, as well as no circumcision, as been the reason, and I am never afraid to continue with the conversation, should it come about, to say my reasons, and to point out medical and human-rights issues involved. There is much about birth, and the early life that we know nothing about. I firmly believe trauma in the early, vulnerable time is paramount to being raped. To me, this whole issue of circumcision is a simple human rights issue. I ask, if my son had been born a man, rather than a baby, would he have even thought a moment of having this procedure? Would his future wife voluntarily give up natural and gentle intercourse? Would she furthermore give up the many unknown psychological and mental wholeness that come with a whole body? Would my son want to be scared physically and emotionally for life? And....Wouldn't a doctor think twice if that doctor saw what he was truly removing, in all senses of the word? (and most of the time, this surgery is not a doctor!) My hurt, my rage in my very soul when I think of this sexual assault! My son has had no such experience, and he, instead, deals with the small 'traumas:' water in the eyes in the bathtub, a stubbed toe, being tired... He can deal with these minute issues. He is patient, he has a regular schedule, he sleeps well, he does not have nightmares. He is not afraid of anything. He is learning quickly, he is happy. He is complete. He is beautiful. Together, his father and I have great joy that he is the way he was born, and that he is such a wonderful blessing besides.
Anonymous—Netherlands I think, everybody is more happy when he is his own boss about his own penis.
Anonymous—United Kingdom Barbaric and vile. My husband has suffered from it and so have I for over 30 years. It has frustrated him and I thought our inadequate sex life was due to me but later found that it was because of what was done to him.

Anonymous—New Zealand I am from New Zealand. ***BAN CIRCUMCISION HERE NOW!!!***
Anonymous—France Life as a man is difficult enough as it is without the burden of reduced sexual perfomance and enjoyment. I will always carry anger and a desire to kill the doctor that did this to me when I was probably a baby. Ignorant parents don't help. Of course if this was a female issue my God there'd be some noise. Why should women care ? But actually they do care and would rather have a man with a foreskin.

Anonymous At the age of twenty two I am a proud South African male. I was circumcised shortly after birth for "hygiene" reasons, but find myself restoring with the help of a orginisation in South Africa called NORM-SA. The National Organisation for Restoring Men in South Africa, with the help of Founder Dean Ferris, is creating awareness in our contry where circumcision is practised widely. After attending meetings where this issue was raised it came about that you could reverse the mutilation non-surgically. This was great news to me, and for the last year I have done so. I have also tried to be as active as possible with any orginisation that deals with this subject. As a result I have been interviewed on National tellevision and will be doing so once again in the next few weeks. I applaud you for your contribution and am willing to assist you in any way I can. Even though South Africa is still only starting awareness campaighns like NORM-SA, we believe that every little bit helps. Thank you once again for granting me the opportunity to sighn this petition, and may God recocnise hand bless your cause!! Yours gratefully
Anonymous—USA It is time for Jewish women to acknowledge their true feelings about the circumcision of their sons and refuse to allow it. It is time for adults to realize that their religion is in their hearts and souls and not dependent on the cutting of the genitals of their newborns.
Anonymous—USA Mutilation is mutilation..what more can or should be said? Is there anything about the word mutilation that anyone who knows anything doesn't get? It is cruelty, and does remove a substantial ammount of sexual sensitivity from the glans penis...I know, since I AM A FORESKIN RESTORED MAN. Circumcision doesn't prevent any diseases...and religious reasons could only be from ignorance and ancient mythology. The children, both female and male, have innate rights which must be respected or we will create a disrespectful barbaric populace...worse than normal. To me this is all just common sense...but to lots of others I know they disagree...so that is too bad...and a tragedy...of humanity. Bob May 2005
Anonymous—USA My very summarized opinion on genital mutilation, i.e., circumcision is that it is backwards, savage, cruel, and perverse. Agree with me or not, as this is an issue provoking so much controversy and so many different opinions, wouldn't common sense dictate that something of this nature should be left up to the person on which it is performed? I.e., the child should be able to make this choice for THEMSELVES?
Anonymous—USA My name is Mark and I endorse the Universal Declaration on Circumcision, excision, and incision and the Ashley Montagu resolution. In my opinion nobody should have the right to alter the genitals of a baby when it's not necessary. In my opinion that is about as immoral and harmful as if our society was to allow adults to rape children and I'm surprised that most people don't see it that way. It's great that some people are trying to put a stop to circumcisions. Sincerely, Mark.
Anonymous—USA Isn't female genital mutilation outlawed in the U.S.? WHY isn't it the same for boys? Oh wait...it's probably because of all the money that is made off of the amputated foreskins. Yep, that's it. STOP THE TORTURE OF BABY BOYS!!!!
Anonymous—USA I, being a victim of this procedure when I was an infant, am both totally opposed to it, and absolutely refuse to give up my search for a way to restore my frenar band [my procedure thank god preserved a portion of my frenulum]. I'm 27 and currently restoring. I have had various anxiety and depression problems in my teenage years, and never could keep a relationship going for that long, and am still a virgin. Of course there could be other reasons for this, but I'm sure the issue plays a significant enough role in my contuing inability to create that 'special bond.' It is **completely insane** that it happens so routinely to so many men in the USA, for the past century at least. My faith in religion of course, having been raised Jewish, is way less now, if not none. How would a girl like it if her G-spot was removed [inside the vagina?] because thats exactly what the frenar band is - it infuriates me that jokes abound about MGM are so casually told [often by women, TV], and that though evidence is clear, 'authorities' still argue over significance of human rights abuse allegations here at home. Bottom line -- The numbed glans and amputated frenar nerves are only 1/2 the story -- this procedure needs to be exposed for the lifelong disfiguring abuse that it is -- no different than cutting off a limb! I will make sure that if and when I am reborn, it will be and stay all natural.
Anonymous—USA I believe this is a violent ritual from the past which should be abolished forever. I am shocked that our culture has been so brainwashed for so long that we would willingly let this continue.
Anonymous—United Kingdom I only really thought about this when, after over thirty years of medical practice, I saw the six week old baby of a Somalian asylum seeker for a routine developmental check. Its penis looked like a strawberry on a mushroom stalk. Someone had amputated its foreskin. This is the only case I have seen so early in life - but I am staggered to learn that this practice of ritual genital mutilation is widespread in the US; presumably driven by the fee-for-service system by which surgeons are paid in that country. As ever, most of the human race is far too intelligent to accept that 'god' told a bronze age cleric that all male humans should have their foreskins amputated henceforth. It is disturbing that today's doctors who should understand the difference between education and indoctrination are perpetuating this myth both actively and passively.
Anonymous—United Kingdom After reading everyones replies i couldnt help but imagine the horrific pain the baby goes through during circumcission. I was once told that when a baby boy is circumcised they are restrained to a table unit, and that no anestetics are used. This is absolutely diabolical, this is an attrotious crime against the child at hand, this disgraceful practice should be put to an end immediatly, i am lucky that my parents strongly believe against circumcission and my mum only ever considered it once in my life for medical reasons. Without medical merit however this vile practice is a terrible crime and as consistantly pointed out before breaks the humans rights, just because the boy or girl is an infant and does not have the ability to voice their concerns and objections to what is about to happen to them does not mean that they will not resent what has happened to them as they grow older and come to understand what has happened to them. Once the practice has been completed on the child for him or her there is no turning back and they may never know what it would be like for them to be complete the way they was supposed to be. There is nothing more id like to see than circumcission come to and end along with a lot of suffering in this world, there are some things we can change and some we cannot, but this i believe can be changed, and should be changed, why it hasnt so far i do not understand, but frankly i dont want to know, i just want to see it made illegal and only allowed to take place with the persons consent when they reach the LEGAL age of 18 without pressure on them from family and also only in the medical exception.
Anonymous—USA No one has a right to disfigure or harm any person because of religion or personal finacial gain. We don't cut off other body parts just because of potential cancer or likelyhood of desease.
Anonymous—Mexico Now that the public is growing aware of the cruel mutilations that children all over the world are suffering, and how these mutilations are completely unnecessary, it is everybody's duty to fight the ignorance that still runs rampant among parents and STOP circumcisions now - on boys, girls and everyone... Genital integrity is everybody's right, regardless of gender and religion. Why do parents over the world continue to believe that their children are their property, and that they have the right to mutilate children's perfectly normal and healthy body parts?... Let's end this now!
Anonymous—USA Regardless of sex and for whatever purpose, everyone should leave the genitals of minors alone!
Anonymous—USA Why should Children be forced to suffer physically? I believe all people should have the right to decide if they want there bodys changed. But not touched unless they decide. And it causes problems as adults. Women are turned to objects and Men are forced to not have sensations they should normally have... My husband has almost no feeling because of this. I believe it is a form of Abuse.
Anonymous—USA Definately Agree With this bill. should have been passed into law a LONG time ago. luckily egnough for me I WASNT circumcised :-)
Anonymous—Australia What more can one say, it has all been said. Genital mutilation is completely unnecessary. I personally know three adult males who are looking into surgery to reinstate some form of foreskin that was taken without their consent. I have met one adult male who has had the surgery. This is such needless suffering that continues from infancy into adulthood and must be ceased immediately by global education for parents and parents-to-be.
Anonymous—USA Any form of mutilation to the human body is immoral. Humans are born complete and should not be mutilated after birth.
Anonymous—Canada I sincerely hope that those people who fight so hard for protecting the integrity of the human body, also fight equally hard against abortion. If not, there is no logic to their stance.
Anonymous—USA I feel that every individual should have the opportunity to decide what parts of their body should stay and what parts should go. I think it is sad that people still practice ritualistic removal of genital parts, a lot of times for no other reason than it was done to them or their partners. I think that if more people were well informed they would not choose to put thier children through it. I also believe if we were suppossed to be born without a clitoris or a foreskin that we would just come out that way!
Anonymous—USA No one should have the right to force unnecessary elective surgery upon another person
Anonymous—USA Genital mutilation is horrible and disgusting. No infant or young adult should be robbed of bodily integrity for cultural/social or bogus health reasons. Genital mutilation of male infants is an abomination that has no place anywhere in the world for any reason.
Anonymous—USA They should stop cutting babies! Make it against the law.
Anonymous—USA I believe males should not be circumcised without their concent. I was circumcised as a baby, and am constantly bothered by thoughts of what I am missing.
Anonymous—USA As a race, we still practice tribal warfare. Genital mutilation (Male and Female) is another tribal ritual that is horrific, and must stop world wide. Webmedic4u, EMT-P (N.Y.C.)
Anonymous—USA Genital integrity is a basic human right.
Anonymous—USA What can I do to help end this thing? I'd like to see if there's a group who prays about it; what else?
Anonymous—USA I feel that to take away a part of another human being's body when that human being is unable to speak for himself is a despicable reflection on humanity. Our bodies are our own; they are not canvases upon which other people-including parents, doctors, etc.-can freely place their morals against our will. As a female, I cannot fully understand the physical, emotional, and psychological pain inflicted upon men who have been the victims of circumcision. However, I know how I would feel if my parents made similar choices involving my body without my consent. Unfortunately, I feel that many people do not know the facts about circumcision, and this leads to the perpetuation of the practice.
Anonymous—USA Genital integrity is an obscene violation of human rights and i have a horrific, revolting, mutilated stump of a dick to show for it! This happened to me in A U.S. Hospitable
Anonymous—South Africa It is fascinating how proponents of something come up with red herrings to favour their cause. Zulus don't practise circumcision but Xhosas do. It would perhaps be worthwhile to compare the prevalance of HIV between these two groups.

Anonymous—USA Equal protection under the law is a guarantee not to be questioned in America. It is an outrage that hospitals are allowed to brutally strip our children of their genitals. EQUAL PROTECTION UNDER THE LAW MEANS JUST THAT. If a child wants this done, then let the choice be his ! STOP this insult to our babies ! Bush said it best.. "We need to stop the terrorizm against America from the Evil Do-ers " Its Simple ! Equal Protection under the law ! Equal Rights ! We protect Girls ! Why not our BOYS !!! Let them make this decision !!!!!
Anonymous—USA i was circumcised as a infant and i think everone should have the same equal rights weather male or female not to be gentialaly mutilated...if they choose to have the surgury later in life when they are adult that is totally thier choice. i was never give that option and really resent that fact. i have talk to my mother on the subject and she said it was the normal thing to do at the time and see no harm in the choice she made that day. ''it just a little skin'' i dont know how people can make that decision for some one else when they are so ingnorant and take another person word that is the right thing to do. so yes i totally support you in your Petition
Anonymous—USA I am grateful to have stumbled across this petition.... I had looked up Ashley Montague's name due to his quote supporting Riane Eisler's "The Chalice and the Blade" on the cover of the book. My personal studies (I am a writer, social commentator and historian in my own right.... I am not affiliated with any institution or degree program) have led me from sex and sexuality, to earth based spirituality, to the study of prehistoric /historic cultures of our own culture's ancestry (the Fertile Crescent) and back around to sexuality....including birthing, genital integrity, etc. My studies are making a full circle and writers I thought to be in whole separate schools and subjects I am now finding on the same web pages. It is a very exciting time for me in my personal and professional development. My goal.... to write a far reaching ezine.... as frequently visited as eBay, and hooking the same audiences as those who read Playboy and Hustler, to connect and awaken our desires and pleasures to our spirituality in an open, unshaming manner. I will cover ALL aspect of sexuality in my material, and would love to create a permanent link on my website to this page, that my readers will increasingly add their names to this list, ushering our planet closer to the end of this atrocious practice. Thank you, deeply, for making this petition availible online. - Amy Graves PS The name of my ezine is Pure Sex.... look for it on the internet within the next year!!
Anonymous—USA Routine infant circumcision is genital mutilation
Anonymous Completely disgusting and sadistic.
Anonymous Male/Female Genital Mutilation is wrong. Many conflicts can be attributed to the psychological impact of this.
Anonymous—Australia Being the mother of two boys, I think it is circumcision is cruel and needless. It is mutilation!
Anonymous—USA I think infant circumcision is disgusting and cruel, and should be completely banned and outlawed AT LEAST in the US if not elsewhere as well. All pregnant females carrying baby boys need to know (AND SEE)what would happen if they chose circumcision for her little boy. Infant circumcision is absolutely barbaric!
Anonymous—USA pick up and hold and nurse a crying baby
Anonymous—USA Only in recent years have I realized the profound limitation on continuing sexual fulfillment that I attribute at least in part to my circumcision as an infant. Having discovered masturbation at a very early prepubescent age and, despite the parental feelings of guilt that were fashionably imposed upon me in that era of the '30s, I managed to get the relief that nature called for, but never with the problem of premature orgasm or ejaculation suffered by many males. Since in my seventies, even though I have a normal teenage sexual appetite, attributable to prescribed treatment of my osteoporosis with topical testosterone, I am almost never able to complete normal sexual intercourse or masturbation. The loss of sensitivity has taken its toll.
Anonymous To be intact is not a "choice" it is a birthright.
Anonymous—USA We need to educate that babies feel and remember and that what happens in utero and at birth will impact them profoundly for the rest of their lives, in terms of their cognition, emotional and psychological development. People don't understand the consequences and implications of trauma. The natural childbirth movment has focused on the woman's experience primarily...we need to become advocates for the baby. We need to stop preaching to the choir and take this message to public health people, policy makers, citizen's groups, etc.
Anonymous—USA Working for the past 3 years for NOCIRC - I NOW realize ALL baby boys I've seen that have had this surgery are DAMAGED. Try comparing an intact penis to a circ'd penis, even in infancy, and see the differences! Thankfully, #1 husband and I enjoyed being full-sized!
Anonymous—USA This is an evil act that should have never happend and this should be stopped at once!
Anonymous—USA I have 3 intact sons. It is grotesque for me to think of mutilating my newborn babes.
Anonymous—USA Victim & Survivor for life...
Anonymous—USA Our son is very upset that he was circumcized as an infant in 1974. He blames us. In all fairness, we did what 90% of parents of male babies did back then. It was the "standard medical procedure" at that time. But had we known THEN what we know NOW, we would never have had it done. It is inhumane and unnecessary and should have been told this by the doctors.
Anonymous—USA I was circed, I have my who adult life had major difunction of my penis, I can not climax, I belive this is do to the Dr. and my mother that never gave me the choice to have this thing done to my body with out any need. It is and always been a way to take away the pleasure that most far right reigise groups are afried off.
Anonymous Take the whole baby home. My husband was left intact at his birth in 1967, and he and I are extremely grateful to his parents! It is not a parental rights issue to us, but a human rights issue!
Anonymous—USA End circumcision now, please.
Anonymous—USA I hope this procedure is stopped very soon. I feel this is a very inhumane procedure to both boys and girls and needs to be outlawed.
Anonymous—USA Circumcision is the partial removal of your manhood without concent. It is abuse.
Anonymous—USA My opinion on this matter is that the child should be left alone until they can make their own decisions once they attain adulthood.
Anonymous—USA The Body belongs to the child, please don't decide for the child.
Anonymous—USA I believe that it is wrong for infants to be made to go through this. It should be each individuals choice, not their parents or doctors.
Anonymous—USA ANY mutilation of human beings must stop. Thank you.
Anonymous—USA I pray this comes to an end soon!
Anonymous—USA How any loving and caring parent can inflict this on a newborn is incredible, especially since medicine now has plastic surgery to cure phimosis, and drugs to cure urinary tract infections? These mindless parents should also be told by our government that Aids is spread by casual sex (not foreskins). Finally, all thinking people should realize that it is the circumcisers of the world who will lead us to WW III, and perhaps the demise of humanity and this planet? The Jews and Americans versus the Muslims; what a scenario all starting with the way God created a man's penis!! What a story going back through human history and perhaps coming to a climax in our time!!! Let the pro-circ camp chew on that for a while.
Anonymous—USA IT'S NOT RIGHT!! I WAS VISITING MY BABY IN THE NURSERY WHEN SHE WAS A ABAY 7 YRS AGO AND A NURSE WAS GIVING ONE TO A BOY IN PLAIN SITE WHILE SHE WAS TALKIGN TO SOMEONE ELSE.AND HE WAS SCREAMING BLOODY MURDER. I WANTED TO GO AND PICK HIM UP SO BAD BUT I COULDNT DO IT. I WOULD BE AT FAULT...I SAID A PRAYER IS ALL I COULD SO BUT IT IS SO WRONG..I STILL FELL FOR THAT BOY! IT IS A VISUAL I WILL NEVER FORGET AND THE SCREAM THAT HAS SCARRED ME FOR LIFE!!

Anonymous—USA male babies should be given a choice later in life as to circumcision
Anonymous—USA As a mother of three sons, I care deeply about the circumcision issue. I only wish I had spared my first son the horrific experience. His body belongs to him, and NO ONE had the right to cause him pain, trauma, and change his body forever. I am so grateful that I was educated in time to spare my two younger sons this terrible, mindless ritual.
Anonymous—Canada It should never have been done to me, I can NEVER have it undone. It is like pulling teeth ! Once they are gone they don't grow back. I am proud I have a Grandson who is intact, simply by discussing it with my Son and his wife prior to the baby's birth. No one other than the owner of the foreskin in question should be able to remove or mutilate same, excepting for a life and death situation, and accompanying documentation must be available. The severed foreskin must be preserved for further medical functions should it be needed by the individual from whom it was taken.
Anonymous—USA As a mother of three intact sons I feel so strongly that it is our morally obligation to protect innocent children from the ignorance that seems to pervade our culture.
Anonymous—USA i have 2 boyfriends, one-american-cut, the other new zealand-uncut, i love them both as well as their penises but my eyes were opened to the dangers of circumcision...thank you.
Anonymous—USA No cultural or religious reason warrants circumcision on anyone under the age of majority. Fear and ignorance are always the fuel of superstition and backward cultures.
Anonymous—USA I believe that both female and male circumcision should no longer be practiced unless it is medically necessary for the health of the individual or if the person has reached the age of 18 and wishes to have it done as a cosmetic procedure. Even though there are clear guidelines from the AAP about pain control during circumcision most ob/gyn physicians refuse to use it saying that it complicates the procedure. After talking with many of my colleagues (doctors, nurses, other pharmacists) about the topic of pain relief many doctors admitted that the only reason that they don't use pain relief is because it adds time to the procedure. There are many medical procedures that are very short but we still use anesthesia/pain relief during and after. It is cruel and barbaric to even think of slicing apart another persons genitalia and removing part of it with out any form of pain relief. Since there is no valid medical reason for this procedure it should no longer be done routinely. The general public should not be told that is their decision to make for their son. They do not have the medical knowledge or understanding to make a good decision. Most people do not even know what a circumcision involves. After one generation of intact children in the US people would see that a foreskin is not a disease and does not need to be removed. It is so hard for me to believe that with all of the advances of medical science and the understanding that we now have about male forskin that circumcision is still being done at all. Hopefully someday this barbaric practice will be stopped and our sons can have back the right to their bodies.
Anonymous our bodies are perfect and must never be mutilated. please educate yourselves and understand that traditions may be honoured in ceramoniouse ways without actual cutting or altering our bodies.
Anonymous—USA Stop the mutilation. Stop the torture. Stop the pain.
Anonymous—Canada I have to agree with your proposition Mr. Prescott because according to all the laws it is inhuman for circumsicion. But, you must realize people have been doing this for a long time and it won't be easy to stop. People must do this because it is part of their religion.
Anonymous—South Africa No person has the right to mutilate another person's body without that person's informed consent. To cut a normal, healthy piece of skin away from a helpless baby is sick, and this barbaric practice must be stopped.
Anonymous—South Africa This should not be done to children unless medically indicated. There is no need for this.
Anonymous—USA Never again will I ever feel the way I was supposed to be.
Anonymous—USA It seems so much more natural for our bodies to remain intact. The practice of circumcision has become so commonplace that people don't even consider its implications. Children should not be subjected to pain and suffering, and should not have irreversible procedures performed on them that have no medical benefit. A child's body should be left intact. That child can always choose to be circumcised once he reaches adulthood, if he so chooses, at which time it would be a personal decision, not one forced on him in infancy.
Anonymous—USA I believe everyone should make their own decision regarding their own bodies.
Anonymous—India I consider it as a inhuman act. Must stop it.

You ask why and the answer is that is the it has been done for years. DONE FOR YEARS. That's a reason! Evolve people please move with the times. Circumcision serves no purpose. I have no doubt that in time will be considered cruel and unusual punishment and beyond all Illegal.

Anonymous—Ireland Genital mutilation is a symptom of control societies. Therein, control societies can be culturally charted. Their resource base and management are in varying degrees indicative to types of control imposed upon members in their society/culture. Genital mutilation is generally found in African societies and continuing with anciant human broadcast, in MidEast and Semitic societies and specifically in Aztec Mexican society. Specifically Western circumcision is an offshoot of mideastern practices that entered mainstream belief.

Anonymous—Canada good for you someone has to stand up to the ignorance!!
Anonymous—United Kingdom As with any unnecessary amputation, circumcision should only be given with the free, informed and voluntary concent of the owner of the penis under consideration. It is a violation of basic human rights as well as child abuse to inflict permanent and irreversible physical changes on an infant, or any human being. In no uncertain terms this is a crime similar to forcing skin or eye colour change.
Anonymous—USA Hi my name is Jason and Im writing you in regard to circumcision and the socially acceptable mass mutilation of hundreds of thousand infant children every year. I myself am one of these violated youth and would rather enjoy any information you my have on the topic as well as any passed cases involving the subject. However I am most interested in potential law sues that would change the way people look at sexual mutilation here in the US. perhaps even the more important the ritual mutilation so deeply rooted and grounded in Judaism as well as many other religions spread across the globe. I feel that at this time of global awakening through the advancements in communication it is time to throw these outdates practices to the proverbial curb and embrace infant rights rejecting superstitions and devine fear as mankind takes steps toward a brave new understanding of life love and the pursuit of happiness.

Anonymous—USA I am just an ordinary guy who was circumcised at birth. I would have preferred to remain intact. Any genital modification should be the decision of the owner of the genitals. Leave the children alone.
Anonymous—Canada I think that everyone deserves the choice whether or not to remain intact. This is not a choice that should be forced on ANYONE unable to make a coherant decision.
Anonymous—USA There is no health benefit in any form of circumcision. The AAP does not support routine circumcision. We are not allowed to cut and or mutilate our children in any other way, this is called abuse. Just because we permit a doctor to perform mutilation means it is okay? This has to stop!
Anonymous Should be abolished completely from every country and continent along all other kind of mutilation respecting the basic right of physical integrity of each individual.
Anonymous—USA I see a big difference in our first born and our second born in relation to stress levels and pain tolerance. I do believe that circumcision affected our oldest to a noticable degree. If there was one thing I could change as a parent, it would be to protect my son's foreskin. Our heartache over his circumcision was what set my mind to never let that happen to our next child. I only wish there was more widespread info for parents expecting sons. It was very difficult to sort through the info six years ago and our doctor assured us that it just fine. Thank goodness we found more convincing materials the second time around.
Anonymous—USA God's rules are written in our bodies and our hearts. Unless there is disease, there is no imperitive to remove what our maker gave us. Contradictory writings and pronouncements by human beings aside, God's will was to be as we naturally are- an integrated whole.

Anonymous The routine circumcision of children in America is sickening. I have two small boys who were born at home with a midwife. I love every piece of them. Nothing was extra. If they should decide to change that when they are grown men, that will be their choices. The social myths about cleanliness and sexual pleasure are taken for fact, they are promoted by doctors and nurses. There is very little real information unless you really search for it. And in kindness, I have heard it said that the benefits either way balance out, so it really just depends on what the parents want... It doesn't balance out. You either leave a body intact, the way it was designed, OR you barabically whack off a piece and toss it in the trash. I would be glad that this practice be recognised for what it is. Circumcision is a gentle word which we take for granted. We need to change the name so there is nothing romantic or benign about it. It is MUTILATION.
Anonymous—USA Cutting a baby or child's genitals is a human rights issue/violation... this is a barbaric practice and should be outlawed all across the board. Any educated, enlightened, common-sense kind of person can see the logic here, and should help to protect the rights of newborn babyies and children by publicly taking a stand against FGM * MGM.
Anonymous—France Little boys must have the same rights and protection as little girl.
Anonymous—USA Circumcision is a barbaric, outdated, savage, and unneccessary ritual. Boys deserve the same protection as girls.
Anonymous—USA It is not civil to mutilate babies in any way! We have to work together to keep these baby boys from being raped by the medical community and their parents.
Anonymous—USA I hope this petition will make a difference in the routine mutilation of our children's genitalia. It's about time that this change and that all people, both male and female, are respected as whole beings.
Anonymous IT IS AN OUTRAGE THAT WHILST THERE IS A HUGE OUTCRY AGAINST FEMALE CIRCUMCISION,MALES ARE ROUTINELY ASSAULTED AND BUTCHERED AGAINST THEIR WILL. NO-ONE DARE SPEAK AGAINST IT FOR FEAR OF BEING LABELLED AS A RACIST OR ANTISEMITE
Anonymous—Australia The excision of parts of male and female genitalia is completely irrational. It imposes unnecessary suffering and lifelong disability on often young and helpless human beings. It should be banned worldwide and without exception.

Anonymous—France (sorry for my poor English) It's for me the most important subject in the whole world to let kids in just one piece. I am against violence of course but in case of kinds abused, I am for ware if it’s the last option for force to stop criminal’s peoples even if their dead are required. I of course prefer to see the death of the criminal thane the mutilation of the victim. Destroy kids genital is the most horrible scourge in the world. So this awful circumcision is the biggest crime during all the history of the humanity. I really hop to make this STOP in emergency whatever this can be cost. Timot
Anonymous—USA i believe that circumcision is pure torture, nothing can justify the pain that we introduce to their sensitive little bodies. This is not a way to welcome babies into the world. maybe circumcision had it's place when running water and daily bathes were not common, but now they are and I see no reason for this torture. I have no children that are boys, but if I did I could not bring myself to let this happen to him. I believe parents are uninformed and mislead. Not everyone informs themselves of the safest thing for them or their baby they just follow their doctor. I also believe parents believe that circumcision is a "no biggie" out patient procedure that has little to no pain. I believe if they had to actually watch what happens during a circumcision they would be horrified! I also believe it is not our body to be butchering. They can make their decision when they're 18 if the want a circumcision. Then at least it won't be so painful because they will be under anesthesia and won't have to urinate on themselves making their wounds burn until it heals. I feel we have no right to alter our childrens genitals since it causes no medical risks to keep the foreskin, but giving them a circumcision creates medical risks for them that they may have to live with for the rest of their lives, not ours.
Anonymous—USA Until I had my son I didn't know how much circumcision harms and mutilates. I am SO thankful that my son never knew or had to go through what my husband had to. There are so many myths in the US about the foreskin, Doctors still ignore the facts that circumcision is unnecessary and very painful for the newborn to go through. It also goes against every medical oath that is in existence. Why can't the USA see through the gimmicks that are being used when they see so called "studies" that only state that the protection takes place if the child is circumcised at birth? Don't they know that the one purpose for this is so the hospitals can SELL the newborn's foreskin for profit? It is also the big reason why Doctors don't use pain meds. It would contaminate the foreskin so they would not be able to sell them. Foreskin's are used to make types of collagen and burn bandages. They are in very high demand...and the sad thing is that the newborns are who miss out on being whole and being put through pain that ANY adult would NEVER be put through...even convicts. It is cruel and is long over due to be stopped, for BOTH males AND females. What a way to have the first experience with their sex organ...for part of it to be cut off.
Anonymous—USA As a 41yo male who has learned what was taken from him, as described by Taylor, Lockwood and Taylor in 1996, and as described by many intact men, I am sickened by my own loss and by the absolute pinnacle of arrogance of doctors (whom I bet are ALL circumcised) who claim THEY are doing it for MY good! How DARE they take my best sexual expression and callously throw it in the trash, and then tell me I can't be trusted to keep myself clean!! If WOMAN were told this after having been mutilated, there would be WAR! Well, I, for one am MAD AS HELL, AND WILL NOT REMAIN SILENT ANY LONGER. I am supposed to be calm when someone I don't even remember stole my private, most sexual parts from me? Would anyone remain calm if you were assaulted for no reason? NO REASON!!! We must open our eyes to the immense tragedy perpetrated on our innocent beautiful baby boys, and we must open our hearts and find the courage to STOP the insanity. We all have an obligation to protect them, and to help our nation heal.

Anonymous—USA NO VIOLENCE towards our children-please protect the children for it is theirs' and their decision alone, to decide whether or not to mutilate their bodies
Anonymous—USA As a nurse in Maternity for over thirteen years, I have seen hundreds of circumcisions and am horrified that this practice is allowed to continue. It is brutal to watch and heartbreaking to hear the screams of the baby. It is gut-wrenching afterwards to look at and care for the mutilated, bloody penis that only moments before was perfectly normal. The most infuriating part of all for me is that afterwards the parents often won't even touch the penis. They tell me that they feel "too bad" or "too guilty" and so they leave it to us nurses to have to deal with the horrifying aftermath and listen to their poor baby shreak in pain every time he urinates on the open wound and needs his gauze bandages changed. Mostly, I'm amazed that it's usually the baby's mother who doesn't want her baby circumcised, but the fathers are absolutely adament. They are unwilling to hear any other view, insisting that it's for their son's own good, so that he won't feel different or get teased by the other boys. The fathers always say, "Well, I was circumcised, so my son has to be, too". I'm shocked that the mothers cave in every time. When will this madness end?! Personally, I believe that the father's are in denial, and cannot admit that maybe they SHOULDN'T have been circumcised, because then they might have to face the fact that there may be something WRONG with their own penises, and that it's the UNcircumcised penis that is actually NORMAL! WOMEN, I believe it's up to you to stop this insanity, men will never admit that it's not OK. Please, think ahead about what you will allow to be done to your precious baby, BE STRONG, don't allow him to be circumcised!
Anonymous—USA No one has the right to alter anyone's body with out their consent! NO ONE! Babies DIE from this unnecessary procedure, all in the name of parental ignorance!
Anonymous—USA I learned the truth about circumcision unfortunately too late for my first son, and deeply regret it. Luckily hard working intactivists helped me see the truth before the birth of my seonc son, who is happily intact. I will forever fight the cause to ensure that I at least TRIED to inform the parents before their child was born.
Anonymous—USA i was mutilated as a child at my parents request so that the males in my family including my father would not have to realize that they were mutilated and violated for no reason. I have several complication from this violation of civil rights. one of these complications involoves how the doctor removed too much skin during my torture and the pressure has caused my penis to collapse into my abdomen so that almost none of my penis can be seen even when erected.because of this i must live in fear of being called a freak and i doubt i will ever be able to have intercoarse. i could deal with it if i were born this way but that is not so. a doctor tied me down and without anestitizing me he cut away my birthright. the reason he prescribed this procedure as "beneficiary" and cut so much off and used no painkillers is his greed. a person who violates childrens rights in this manner is paid 600$ per hour doing this procedure and the person who advises you on your decision is out of a job if he does not prescribe it . also they use no painkillers so that they can sell the foreskins that they cut off of children to research companies.my sex life is ruinedbut i can only hope that my signing this form will save other healthy normal babies from bein mutilated in the manner i am.

Anonymous—USA Doctors and policians see the absurdity of female genital mutilation, why can't they see the same for males?
Anonymous—USA It is my firm belief that once a child has left the mother's womb, they should be considered a citizen with unalienable rights (after all, as soon as you're born, you've got a social security number being assigned to you.) and afforded equal protection under the law. Such mutilation to one's penis is the reason I don't have much feeling at all, and it has, in turn, severely affected my way of life. I did not have a choice when I was born on whether or not I wanted a circumcision. This sort of practice should be stopped, and instead, circumcision should not be allowed without being given a choice, unless for dire and immediate medical needs. In addition to that, it can only happen with the consent of the person undergoing the process and they should be at least the age of 16.
Anonymous—USA Stop and think of the pain in the first days of birth...that is enough to end this procedure alone.

Anonymous—USA Circumcision should be left up to the OWNER of the foreskin. Children should be able to decide what they want to do when they become adults. We should not be allowed to take something so important from them...NO MATTER WHAT!!!!!!
Anonymous—USA I am so sad that my parents circumcised me as an infant. My penis is relatively insensitive now, and intercourse with women is generally unsatisfying because their vaginas feel "loose", and don't provide enough friction to compensate for my insensitive penis. This has adversely affected the course of my whole life.
Anonymous—USA let those who wish to do it as an adult by their own volition
Anonymous—USA I would really like to see them outlawed since I have a friend who got genital mutilation and he has been suffering from it throughout his whole life (a botched one).
Anonymous—USA I believe the rights of the patient, not the parent or custodian/caregiver should take precedence. Let the child decide when they become of legal age of consent.
Anonymous—USA Stop the mutilation of helpless babies! This is child abuse!
Anonymous—Canada Generally, I believe that it is the right of every man and woman to decide for him/herself if any part of his/her body should be amputated. In particular, I believe that the genitals of of infants and children of neither sex should be mutilated by any form of circumcision, excision, or amputation. Except in serious abnormal medical situations the genitals of every infant and child should be left intact at least until they are able to make an independant, intelligent and informed decision for themselves. Otherwise all manner of these genital mutilations forced on anyone, infant, child, or adult, whether as routine infant circumcision, circumcision for religious reasons or cerimonial/ritual circumcision, should be immediately stopped, outlawed and banned worldwide. These practices are a violation of adult human and child rights to maintain an individual's own whole and natural body. Even when mutilations are performed on infants and children there is nevertheless the effect of violating the individuals future adult human rights pertaining to quality of life and persuit of happiness because the full and extended permanent effect of these sexual/genital mutilations is continued as suffering partial or complete sexual dysfunction in adult life. These operations and rites are cruel and as I can attest myself they are painful, cause discomfort and affect mental well being and self image. They also reduce and eliminate the pleasure of sexual intercourse and thereby limit an individual's enjoyment of life. These practices are among the most cruel, insane, and sensless mutilations forced on people in the world in this day and age. There is no strong medical arguement whatsoever for routine human infant circumcision or to otherwise circumcise the normal penis of any human male or to similairly alter the natural genitals of any human female especially without the individual's informed and intelligent consent. Those circumcisions and such mutilations performed on humans of any age or sex, either as rites or for religious reasons are based on myth, legend, superstition and subjective interpretation of scriptures and should not be practiced on any individual by anyone, without having that individuals informed and intelligent consent. Except in the case where it is determined for certain that there is a medical necessity to preserve quality of life for an individual and the individual is not able to make an informed and intelligent decision for themself, it is otherwise a violation of any individual's human rights regardless of age or sex to suffer having any part of their own body to be altered in any way whatsoever by any other person whomsoever, without the individual's informed and intelligent expressed wish and consent. I say stop this blatant violation of child and adult human rights and stop it today!

Anonymous—USA Circumcision is a human rights violation - it's genital mutilation and torture - it's a hate crime against Nature, against men *and* women, and against joyful sexuality. I refused to marry a man who insisted if we had children and they were sons they *had* to be circumcised. I feel that strongly about it.
Anonymous—Ireland Circumcision is a violent custom that robs child of their birth right. Children deserve to grow up as God made them, and make their own decisions about their body
Anonymous—USA My mom or doctor or whoever let me get cut up when I was little. If I could meet the person whom did this to me today I will probably cut off all of their junk. The only redemption at this point will be REAL foreskin regrowth technologies -- not just stretching -- along with the END OF THIS MADNESS. This must be stopped. Such a good cause you have here.
Anonymous—USA Any act of genital mutilation against a person who is defensless or is under duress should be considered an attempt to do great emotional and bodily harm and should be classified as an act of terrorism.
Anonymous—USA If you are unsure about the topic, watch a circumcision being performed. Make sure you can hear the baby screaming. Do not turn you head away when the foreskin is pinched, and then seperated from the shaft. Take note of the primal tools used, as if from the dark ages, to perform this "hygenic and spiritual" ritual, which actally has no medical support, other than habit. Do your research to discover that the only infections that affect uncircumcised babies occur on babies whose parents are pulling back the foreskin to wash. Then, ask yourself, as an adult, would you allow someone to do this to you?
Anonymous I agree that circumcision of infants and children is a needless and barbaric act of genital mutilation. Ones body is ones personal, private property; I have no respect for anyone who would violate this inherent right. Sincerely, Jon Olomon
Anonymous—USA Genital cutting equals rape!!!
Anonymous Lets put a stop to it!
Anonymous—USA I honestly did not have much thought about MGM until I became pregnant with my son. It was at that time that my husband informed me he wished he had not been circumsised. After researching and speaking with doctors, we decided not to have our son circumsised. However, I do not feel there should have been a decision to make because it should be illegal to cut off part of another human beings' body. I believe it is a cruel act and should not be tolerated in this country.
Anonymous—USA Parents who lob off the front of their sons dick better expect to hear what he has to say when he is 17. If he doesn't like it, he feels like you've ruined his life. Thats how I feel.
Anonymous I would like to see more education on the subject of genital integrity in all countries, with particular interest to female genital mutilation. Only through education can this tragedy of the human spirit and body be reconciled. Instead of forcing people to stop these sacred ritual practices, we should teach of the inhumanity of the practices and hope that people WANT to stop doing these terrible acts to one another. Thank you for your work.
Anonymous—USA I have two sons and I could never justify such a barbaric practice, so they are uncircumcised.
Anonymous—USA After researching circumcision practices in 1998 when my first son was born, I chose not to have the procedure performed. I have two very healthy, happy, intact sons! When my first son had his ears checked at one week of age, the nurse checking him remarked, "He must not be circumcised." I asked her how she could possibly know that? She said that baby boys who are circumcised would "jump" or "start" when she would put the electrode at their ear...like they had already developed a mistrust of the worlkd or a psychological condition of fear already! She said because my baby was so trusting and mellow, she could tell he had not had the procedure. This woman was an R.N., and said she refused to assist in the procedures. It just made me feel even more that I had done the right thing by my son. I feel that the procedure should be outlawed due to having no medical necessity, and it is inhumane. Regards, Darcy Perkins
Anonymous—USA It is morally wrong to forcibly and painfully take sexual anatomy from a child, which he or she would probably not allow to be taken, had he or she been allowed a choice in the matter.
Anonymous Everyone should have the right to their own bodies.
Anonymous—USA Genital cutting is a human rights violation. Obviously, there is no medical reason for it. As far as religious reasons, my right to religious freedom ends where another's right to bodily integrity begins.
Anonymous—USA I believe circumcision is immoral and a violation to the human rights. I have no further comments, as this is blunt enough.
Anonymous—USA A complete waste of money which could be spent on more pressing issues such as cancer and AIDS research. A mutilation of men - causing increased agression documented in studies conducted using Israeli soldiers.
Anonymous—United Kingdom I believe that circumcision should not be allowed except as a last resort for serious medical issues where alternative methods have failed, and the risk to the child's penis is greater if circumcision is not performed. It is in general an unnecessary and barbaric act which mutilates children who cannot consent, and scars them for life both physically and emotionally.
Anonymous—USA This maybe one of the most important health issues for men, as females have already been given protection, at least in the USA. All children should be given equal rights, always. As someone who was circumcised at birth, I find it appauling that doctors would do this to someone who has no related health problems. Had I been given the choice, I would have not let anyone do that to me. Routine infant circumcision is nothing more and nothing less than genital mutilation. It is an un-needed cosmetic surgery that improves nothing. Ironically, it is also the only cosmetic type of surgery that is allowed to be performed on non-consenting minors, except to fix immediate health problems. Together, we can stop this across the globe.
Anonymous—USA It is un-necessary!!!
Anonymous—USA Mutilation of our young boys must stop! Why are boys treated differently than girls? No child should be harmed in this manner. Due to circumcision there are now thousands of men going through the process of foreskin restoration to try to regrow what was stolen from us without our consent. This is a lengthy procedure taking 3 to 5 years. We must put a stop to this barbaric practice now.
Anonymous—USA I have never regretted the conscious decision I (along with my boys' father) made to NOT have circumcion performed on them.
Anonymous—Canada Cutting off a part of a penis is like taking a part of your soul!
Anonymous—USA It is imperative that this horrendous practice be stopped. Our boys are taught right after birth that the world is not a safe place as they are subjected to major painful, incomprehensible surgery instead of laying in their mother's warm welcoming arms.

Anonymous—USA It's such a raw, gratuitous display of power. Circumcision and the like are basically saying "I am going to hurt something so core to your being and there is nothing you can do about it." Damaging a person's sex is the most calculated mutilation you can do, and it's intended to cause the maximum impact on the person for the rest of their life.
Anonymous—USA Mutilating the genitals of any child is just plain wrong. Any person who performs medically unnecessary genital mutilitation is committing a heinous crime against that child. Any doctor who performs it is in complete disregard of the hippocratic oath. And doctors, nurses and technicians (like the ones in the hospital where my son was born) who repeatedly ask a new mother if she is going to mutilate her child after the mother has made it clear she has no intention of doing so ought to be subject to prosecution under some sort of attempted assault charges.
Anonymous Unfortunately, many or most Americans believe circumcision is medically necessary. Furthermore, they often believe that it does not cause tremendous pain to the baby. Circumcision is genital mutilation that should be stopped. Education is necessary to change common misconceptions.
Anonymous—USA Circumcision is STEALING. But beyond that, as a form of physical, sexual, and emotional abuse, close analysis reveals that its dynamics are IDENTICAL with rape: This is a sexual act done without consent; indeed it is done despite screams of protest, and thus all dignity of consent is summarily stripped away, along with the physical tissue; it is done by the powerful to the weak; it is done by force (circumstraint board and drugs [sometimes even alcohol]); it is committed by a perpetrator who has attained the legal age of reason, against a minor child who cannot even give consent. The victim derives no sexual pleasure or intimacy from this act because it is an act of violence (that is, his body is brutally violated); and when this occurs, he is traumatized. In the aftermath, NO amount of counseling, medical intervention, nor even prayer can EVER restore that victim. This tiny PERSON has been treated as an OBJECT - - a thing to be overpowered, controlled, and altered to fit the whims of the powerful. ONLY the perpetrator's will prevails here. Years later, victims rarely speak out, nor do they seek legal help. Why? For the same reasons "traditional" rape victims usually don't report the violations they've endured: The probability of a successful prosecution is extremely low. The victim almost certainly will face further humiliation and violation of privacy, including psychiatric examination, questions of motives, values, morals, sexual history, etc. Empathetic and effective professional help is hard to find. Even family members are reluctant to offer support. And because successful prosecution is unlikely, legal costs probably will never be recovered. And should this victim confront his perpetrator at some later time, the perpetrator will likely respond, in essence: "So what's wrong with YOU? You were supposed to LIKE it! EVERYBODY does !!" (And thus "THE DOCTOR" assumes the same arrogant posture of the rapist who knows full well he will never be prosecuted.) The real issue is NOT about medical need, nor health, nor the wellbeing of the client; furthermore, the ORIGINAL issues never truly involved such things. A genuine student of circumcision and its history knows full well that the real issues involve POWER and CONTROL - - the classic issues that have ALWAYS ENERGIZED SEX CRIMES. (But now, given that MEDICAL PERSONNEL commit this act, there is the added incentive of money, delicately justified by the ruse of "medical advisability".) This act is not about love, health, nor medical necessity. There is not one national professional medical organization on this earth still defending routine childhood circumcision on medical or health grounds. And I cannot imagine that there is even one university in America, nor anywhere else on the planet, that can train a medical doctor who is SO brilliant, SO well versed in things medical, SO wise that he/she knows BETTER THAN GOD how little boys (or the men they will become) should be made. American medical practice in this area is the epitome of arrogance, and the epitome of HARM committed with a medical license. Stated another way: the epitome of RAPE committed behind a medical mask. THIS MORAL, ETHICAL, EVEN STATUTORY CRIME MUST STOP !! Stephen Rinkenberger Psychologist SPMGM@aol.com 2945 Birch Road Homewood, Il 60430

Anonymous—USA I am circumcised. My parents regret thier decision. I always assumed I would have my son circumcised. When I learned my parents where against it, despite having me done, I started to look into it, mainly to set them straight. I ended up proving them right. Now my wife is pregnant with our son. She wants him circumcised and I feel trapped about it since doctors only need one parent's concent to do it. She has not made any final desicion yet. But This procedure should be done away with altogether.
Anonymous—USA I am currently restoring my foreskin and am looking forward to the day when I can have a semblance of what was cut off of me 40 years ago without my permission.
Anonymous—USA All I will say for my personal view is this: 1. I do not deny the possibility of health benefits for sexually active adult men, though it is clear to me that those possible health benefits have been massively exaggerated. 2. There are ZERO health benefits for non-sexually active infants and children. 3. There are proven negative physical and psychological effects. It's incredibly painful and frightening, and a newborn infant does not have the cognitive ability to handle the situation, resulting in permanent trauma. 4. There is absolutely no reason for this to be done at birth and not as an adult, as a free choice of the owner of the penis. 5. Care of an intact penis is simple and easy. It should NEVER be forcibly or prematurely retracted (two different things). Only clean what is seen. For the first several years of life, it is attached to the glans like a fingernail, and it hurts just as bad if you try to peel it away. It's attached like that to protect the penis from dirt and infection. Also, even after it's not attached to the glans anymore, it still takes a while to become "stretchy" enough to be retracted, and retracting it before that can get it stuck and cause a great deal of pain. 6. It's 100% illegal to even administer a pinprick a baby girl's genitals, and proponents of female genital mutilation often cite the exact same reasons (it's cleaner, it prevents STD's, etc) as are argued for male genital mutilation. http://lifeofcarla.blogspot.com/2010/09/mgm-infant-circumcision.html
Anonymous—USA plesae send me newsletter thank you
Anonymous—USA It is heartbreaking that so many of our children are welcomed into the world by having part of their little bodies forcibly removed. Circumcision is an inhumane procedure to perform on babies and children and should be allowed only on someone able to consent to it.
Anonymous A matter of wholeness and a sense of loss..to remove a portion of the male penis, knowing its sexual and protective purpose is wrong. Circumcision is just plain barbaric... Psychologically damaging male sexual development.....etc. Thank you for your continued work to end to this social disaster...
Anonymous—USA Thank you and good luck.
Anonymous—USA Genital mutilation of any type is an outrage to the physical and emotional safety, integrity, and development of a child. babies and children who are mutilated in this way are traumatized at the deepest level: where their very reproductive life exists. The psychological repercussions are enormous. These traumatized children grow up to be the adults who run the world, often with no awareness or validation of their trauma and pain; inflicting pain and violence on those around them. Stop the suffering now!
Anonymous—USA We must do all we can to educate and outlaw the practice of genitial mutilation.
Anonymous—United Kingdom Barbaric, cruel and unnecessary.
Anonymous—USA In free country, we should have a freedom to choose by uorselves, not by some "doctors"
Anonymous—Hungary In Hungary, even the sexologists are totally misleaded about this... When I visited a doctor with my insensitivity problem, he prescribed some hormone capsules...
Anonymous—USA This is a two front issue. Not only do male babies need to be protected but women need to be educated about intact male genitalia and how they are misguided and wrong for finding a mutilated organ sexually appealing. Women need to embrace intact penises as nature designed them, like how men embrace their vaginas as nature designed them.
Anonymous—USA Decisions upon circumcision, excision and incision are ONLY a right of the individual. The parents and physicians that currently make the decision to circumcise their infant boys do not live with the results. No individual should have this procedure forced upon them. This injustice continues driven by ignorance and bias views of culture, false health benefits and even more ridicules, family religious beliefs. Living life mutilated does result in enormous emotional distress.
Anonymous I don't believe any child should have beliefs carved into their skin. Each child is an individual, and circumcision is a violation of their future beliefs and rights to a healthy, uninterfered body. Just leave the children alone.
Anonymous—USA I believe routine circumcison should be stopped. Its unfair to put baby boys through that ordeal and to do it without their approval is unjustified. Many adult males including myself regret what has happend to them and the effects that it has caused.
Anonymous—Canada I will happily sign this petition. In response to the comment about how it infringes upon a persons choice in how to parent- Why do parents assume they have a right to make a choice to remove a piece of a person's body without their consent? What about the child's rights? GYPSY MOMMA
Anonymous—USA Intact in fact...is the only humane way to treat a child.
Anonymous—USA Did they forget "...First, Do No Harm...?" The Mutilation of boys' penises is a Crime against Nature AND it is the Most Henious Crime that can be committed against Boys! The Parents who allow this Torture and the "doctors" who perform this Vile Act should be, themselves, strapped down and have their Genitals Cut Off without Anesthesia! Maybe Then They Will Stop! I TRULY WISH I COULD GET THIS TYPE OF REVENGE AGAINST MY PARENTS AND THE "DOCTOR" WHO MUTILATED ME!
Anonymous—Australia lt came from the dark ages and belongs there.
Anonymous—USA It should always be the choice of the individual if it's not immediately life-threatening. Parents should be made COMPLETELY aware of the cold hard FACTS and not the personal opinions of the doctors. Doctors should NOT make extra money for circumcising babies and companies shouldn't be profiting from the sale of neonatal foreskin. I was tortured and mutilated by the people that were supposed to protect me when I was completely vulnerable. I have been violated mentally and physically.
Anonymous—USA My circumcision as an infant has had many negative permanent changes on me and my sex life. As a child (6 or 7 years old) I can remember holding my penis to help protect the sensitive glans from my underwear as I would watch TV. At that time I did not know why, however I do recall my father saying “you don’t have to hold it. It is not going anywhere.” Unfortunately, as I aged I was loosing sensitivity, due to the build up of extra layers of skin coating my unprotected and dried out glans, not to mention all of the nerves that were removed due to my circumcision. This reduced sensitivity could be one of the reasons it takes me so long to achieve an orgasm. Many mornings and nights my wife would become sore long before I could achieve an orgasm. Although many things cause vaginal soreness my lack of a natural working foreskin (gliding motion) and reduced sensitivity in my penis certainly didn’t help. My wife felt sad (as did I) when I would have to masturbate when I did not reach orgasm during sexual intercourse. Many factors lead to my divorce but not being able to enjoy sex with your wife was high on the list. I believe many of my sexual problems (delayed orgasm, lack of sensitivity and painful erections) are a result of my circumcision and lack of a complete (intact) natural functioning foreskin and penis. I never knew how much sensation I had lost until I started restoring my foreskin. However, attempting to re-grow a protective skin covering for my glans has been one of the most challenging things I have ever attempted in my life (including a 4 year college degree). I must work so hard to try to re-grow (as much as possible) what I already had but was taken from me without my consent. Hopefully this may help prevent this from happening to other children. Let's work together to prevent genital mutilation both female & male.
Anonymous—USA I do not even recall the name of the hospital where my son was circumcised at 9 years old, but if I did, I would tell my son to go sue them. He suffered so much. It's so ridiculous. Jewish men said a prayer inside there while I waited outside. He came out miserable, furious and in tremendous pain. What does this have to do with praying? What does this have to do with religion? It is a ritualistic act of sadism and child abuse! Is there some central registry in New York City, where I can find out where he had this done? The year was 1989 or early 1990. I want to find out, for my son's sake. And, how can I find out what religious group that was, who sent men over there to pray while my son was being mutilated? Thank you.
Anonymous—USA MGM is a barbaric practice of barbaric tribes.
Anonymous—USA I'm horrified that we even ask parents to make a decision to circumcise or not. As a parent of a boy, I was not given ANY information by my doctor on the risks of circumcision. I was given very little on the benefits. The main attitude was what everyone else is doing. This is not a reason to cosmetically alter little boys.
Anonymous—USA EVERY child's genital integrity should be protected by law as a basic human right. Anyone, including Doctors should be held accountable for the damage they're causing.
Anonymous The custom of circumsision concerns not only people and their children who traditionaly practicising it (what would be no less problematic) but it affects the spirit worldwide. Myself living in a country once only recording a low circumcision- rate I painfully learned in childhood about the consequences of circumcision-trend-spreading. Although the rate of non-therapeutic circumcision in Germany still is relatively low the therapeutic circumcision-rate increased along the last 50 years dramatically. Would have had the german healthcare system developed similar without the influences of american medicin and the increasing number of islamic citizens in Germany? Is there a logically explanation of an increasing rate of the disease "phimose" and its treatment by circumcision in Germany along the last 50 years?
Anonymous—Australia This barbaric practice needs to be made illegal. Not only are they torturing and mutilating their babies, they are dooming them to a life of very unsatisfactory sex forever, and their partners suffer too because they are pounded by their circumcised partners in order to finally squeeze out an orgasm. This does not make for satisfactory sex. No wonder so many people are unhappy with their sex lives.
Anonymous—United Kingdom I think circumcision - unless performed for dire medical reasons where there is no other option left - is an abhorrent barbaric practice and I am shocked to think that thousands upon thousands are subjected to this dreadful abuse. I hope sincerely that petitition will be effective and future generations will be spared this humiliation.
Anonymous—USA stupid
Anonymous—USA We say we are an enlightened society, yet we do not question this terrible ritual.
Anonymous—USA Men deserve the same protection of bodily integrity that women enjoy in this country. Gender should not be an issue when it comes to controlling one's own body, and what is done before an individual can consent.
Anonymous—USA Routine infant circumcision is a barbaric practice that should be ended immediately. It is an issue that has touched me very personally, when I was not given a choice in the matter of my own circumcision at birth, and I wish to do anything within my power to prevent others from having to suffer as I have.
Anonymous—United states minor outlying islands Its horrifying to mutilate the most private and intimate part of a babies body when there is no medical reason or necessity. Perhaps there is a "religious" or "cultural" reason for doing so, but its barbaric and should be stopped immediately. Cultures and religion have been wrong before and they will be wrong again. After all, some could say that racism itself is "cultural" yet we now recognize that we are all equal regardless of race. Prime example number one. Get rid of Genital mutilations--its cruel.
Anonymous—USA Parents should be aware of what the foreskin really is and contains. Why should you be put your innocent child through the horrible pain, when we as parents are supposed to protect our child from harm. There is no medical reason for practicing circumcison!!!!! Please do not put our children through this awful experience!!!!!
Anonymous—USA On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Alliance for Transforming the Lives of Children
Anonymous—USA Circumcision (RIC) puts the neonate through extensive pain and subjects him to infections and even death. As an adult he is subject to loss of 50% or more of pressure/temperature contacts. All of the direct connection from the prepuce nerve sensors to the ejaculatory system. Loss of thousands of sensors of the mucosa and ridged and smooth bands as well as the frenulum and the frenular delta. Danger of skin tags and/or bridging, bending of the penis because to much sheath was removed.Tearing and bleeding for the same reason. Loss of the gliding effect for he as well as his partner during intercourse and the advancing keratinization of the glans as time goes by. Circumcision, a cure looking for a disease.
Anonymous—USA it is a clear violation of individual rights to perform genital mutilation. none of the justifications stand up to careful scrutiny.
Anonymous—USA I cannot comprehend why the atrocity of MGM is tolerated in the US or world when it is obvious that this is a violation of the most basic human rights. It is the most glaring example of sexism and being blinded by tradition and social mores that the circumcision of boys is condoned in our society while that of girls is condemned. Anyone who doesn't condemn MGM is, to put it bluntly, brainwashed!
Anonymous—Canada My mother hid , when they cut my skin off. They stroked me till it was hard. My stomach contents filled my throat, -could not scream for my mother. White pain contorted my face causing my later teeth to grow in crooked. I would not take her milk when she returned. She force fed me for three weeks. I hated her for my whole life , though she was the the best mother a boy could have. I began to examine my thoughts and my actions regarding my mother. I did not know what hate was until I began to examine my nightmares and my own feelings around forty years old. I told her "Mom I thought you hated me for letting them mutilate me" She said "Ohh Terry I never hated you". I said "Part of me hates you". Apparently , she changed her will to prevent the United Church from getting anything. She died , over four days in hospital without me going to her side , though she asked. I thought at the time that , I would feel better after her death. I did NOT feel better.
Anonymous—USA Circumcision should be the choice only of the individual, excepting substantiated and verified medical need. RIC in the U.S.A. is a disgrace. Physicians are not following there oath to "first do no harm".
Anonymous—Canada A person should decide this on his own Not a religeouse institution It is a compleetly private dicisision
Anonymous—USA How can someone presume to have the right to cut off body parts from someone else against their will?
Anonymous only integrity is souhaitable
Anonymous—USA i feel that circumcision should not be done because God made man the way they are for a reason. There is no need to take any part of your body off.
Anonymous—South Africa Routine infant circumcision is one of the few remaining quietly endorsed transgressions of human rights, denying the victims the right to an intact body. Whilst it is reducing at the rate of 1% per annum in the USA, it will take another 65 years to be completely eradicated. Let us hope that sanity will prevail before then and that routine male infant circumcision will be outlawed in all civilized societies, just as is the case with female circumcision.
Anonymous—USA No person should have their genitals cut until they are at least 18 and can give their consent or unless it's medically nessicary to do so before they reach age 18.
Anonymous It will stop soon. We will do it.
Anonymous—United Kingdom I was 'chopped' like many others at a young age this is an immoral and outragous practice the sooner it is abolished the better
Anonymous—USA Non-therapeutic plastic surgery of the genitals is a terrible thing to force upon somone who can't speak for themselves. I sure wish that I was given a choice.
Anonymous—USA I'm tired of seeing my friends in pain and feeling disappointed and/or ashamed of themselves just because they're circumcised, because their parents decided it was a good idea to hurt them for no reason and put on them something that affects them their whole life. Stop the genital mutilation!
Anonymous—USA Allow the adult to decide, not the parents, or Dr.
Anonymous—USA i am appalled by ANY form of genital mutilation, especially in women and children.
Anonymous—USA I am 18 now and I have remembered my circumcision for years. I was only maybe 1 or 2 days old, but I still remember it. It gives me a sick feeling inside. I am restoring now and I'm a lot happier. One day I found a website that showed the emotional side effects of circumcision. I think I have all of them. People just don't understand what it does and how bad it hurts. I can understand that they would circumcise back in Bible times and everything, but they were used to that kind of pain and having your hand cut off for stealing type of things. But now in these days you'll never get a body part or anything get cut off. Just a prison sentence for a crime. They aren't harmed physically for committing crimes. But babies never even committed a crime and they go through the most painful thing of all. I hope this will help a little, even if it just saved one baby from it. I've often had nightmares of being circumcised again, even lately. It's just not right.
Anonymous—USA ALL excuses for violating genital integrity (including religious ones) are spurious. Doing so without informed consent is assault and battery. Parents should not have the right to consent on behalf of their children in this matter. There is neither scientific nor adequate cultural or religious justification for these assaults and there IS more than a suspicion that such violations are associated (especially in males) with rape and domestic violence and possibly other forms of violence. It's time for humanity to evolve out of butchery into learning to love and respect our children.
Anonymous—USA I am so upset that the procedure of male circumcision is allowed. The general public certainly has it's blinders on as not to question such risky, dangerous and unneccesary surgery to an infant.I myself was circumcised at 7 years old as a punishment for masturbation by my grandmother while my parents were on vacation. I can only imagine how a infant feels. I don't think I will ever experience any so painful in my life time. It's about time the public gets notified. Why aren't there ads on TV showing a baby boy strapped to the circumstraint and show his face and hear his screams as the skin is removed ? We see tampons, viagra, people killing each other on the news and in the movies, why couldn't we show something like this to really shake them up and educate them that the glans is a mucous membrane, and it would be the same as removing your eyelids . I am willing to back anyone on this. Ed Woelfle
Anonymous—USA I think that people should decide thease things for themselves and that nobody should have the right to do anything to someone without their permission.
Anonymous—USA MGM is dangerous and torturous and completely unnecessary. We need to do what we can to put an end to these barbaric procedures.
Anonymous—USA There is no good reason to mutilate the sexual organs of males or females & it should be illegal.
Anonymous—Poland Having been born and lived all my life in Europe, I always thought that circumcision was a medical procedure used to cure phimosis (but which usually resulted in an unappealing appearance of the penis due to scars and deformation). Imagine my shock and disgust when I learnt that Muslims, Jews and North Americans mutilate their children's and even INFANTS' penises. Whilst our concern about the well being of the children who are at risk of having their genitalia mutilated should be of top priority here and a lot has been said about it in other comments, I'd like to express my amazement at the fact that Americans consider it a 'cosmetic' procedure. Isn't it weird that they find a mutilated, dry, harsh and scarred organ more appealing than a healthy one? One last thing, I don't think that any sane uncircumcised man who knows what it's like to have a foreskin would perform or allow to perform circumcision on another human being. I can't even imagine what enormous pain it must be and just the thought of it makes me literally cringe. I hope this barbarous practice will be stopped soon.
Anonymous—USA My kid will come with factory equipment.
Anonymous—USA I think that we should put these barbaric methods back in the past. We must have the technology to find a better way to go about it.
Anonymous—USA I commend the work being done to end this human rights abuse. There are too many dangers and no theological support for the mutilation of these children. All practices that harm kids or attemtp to control people through oppression should be eradicated.thank you.
Anonymous—USA I know lots of people will say this, but apparently it can't be said enough. Its the child's body, not the parents'. The parents don't have the right to cut off feet or hands, why genitals?
Anonymous—USA Ritual without meaning survives only because of the perpetual influence of tradition. Extreme acts of body reconfiguration should be a freedom of choice.
