Name—Country Comment
jabour, jasmine—USA Our bodies are ours only and we are the only ones with the right to change anything that is healthy in or on our bodies !
Jackman, Jeffrey—USA As a man who had his penis mutilated as an infant I ask that parents truely question their own motivation for mutilating their son's penis. The extensive damage can never be undone.
Jackson, David—USA The right to a whole body and to physical integrity should be considered a basic human right. It is wrong and a severe violation of human rights to remove or surgically alter a body part of another unconsenting person that has nothing wrong with it. We must not amputate body parts where there is no clinically verifiable medical condition on the part, or there is no clinically verifiable medical abnormality which requires it as a very last resort of essential medical need, and not until all lesser invasive options are exhausted. The only conditions which may be require circumcision is Frostbite, Gangrene and Penile Cancer. All other conditions can be treated without circumcision. All penile conditions are in fact rare, less than 1% occurance. These conditions are very rare on the foreskin. You wouldnt cut off a child finger when there is nothing wrong with the finger, to prevent something happening to the finger later, nor the childs earlobes or other "unnecessary" parts. The only person who may make such a decision is the persons whose body it is, since it is only them who can decide the value of the body parts to themselves. The body is sacred, and altering it forever denies a person a part of their life, pleasures and human experience they will never be able to enjoy, especially regarding the most pleasure sensitive skin surface on the human body, the foreskin. A part may be valuable to a person for purely aesthetic reasons. But the foreskin has very well documented and significant importance to the man and is the most innervated parts of the human body. Removing it is an act of sensory castration and lifelong sensory deprivation and is a severe tragedy for anyone on whom it is inflicted. The infliction of the cruel, unethical, inhumane and human rights violating assault and systematic alteration and mutilation of the bodies of children needs to stop. We cannot call our society "advanced" until we have advanced ethically, and no truly advanced society would not routinely mutilate and permenantly alter the bodies of persons when they are helpless and unable to give consent.
Jackson, Jill—USA I did not have my son circumcised back in 1984, and I thought at the time that the trend to automatically circumcise newborn males was on the decline. How sad that 20 years later this is still an issue.
Jacobs, Nicolas Opposed to circumcision of minors in all circumstances.
Jasen, Debra—USA The mutilation of baby boys is inhumane and cruel. We must stop the practice of routine infant circumcision!
jaskus, Saulius—Canada Infant male or female circumcision and any forced circumcision upon minors of any gender for any reason other than the last medical option to avoid harm is a shameful and shaming practice that should be prevented by law. Those who espouse circumcision on religious grounds are espousing tyranny, since minors are not free to accept or reject the procedure, and are therefore having someone else's religious choice forced upon them while being denied their right to choose their religion freely based upon informed consent and its permanent physical markings.
Jedinak, Ted—USA Any type of genital mutilation is a travesty and should be banned in the US and every in the world. I am circumcised at hate it and am restoring my foreskin, but it will not be the same. Protect all the little babies from losing such an important part of the anatomy.
Jeffery, Robert—United Kingdom All forms of genital mutilation are wrong and certinly should only happen with adult consent. Male circumcsion denies men sexual senstitivity and cuases serious psychologcal damage.
Jenkins-Green, Karen—USA I strongly believe that it is the right of each person, regardless of their age, to retain all of their body parts, fully intact.
Jennings, Anna I am against all forms of circumcision, except for medical necessity.
Jennings, Darragh—Ireland This is a completely disgraceful and wholly unneccesary practice. It should be stopped, and soon.
Jerome, Stephen—USA Circumcision had its place in history. However, just as the world evolves, practices which had meaning and value no longer have value. Circumcision is one of those practices. In days and places where hygiene was impossible, in desert climates in particular, the practice of circumcision made sense. In order to encourage the practice, it was frequently tied to a religious belief. In today's world, where we have access to hygiene, there is no need for this practice to continue. As we come to question religious beliefs, we must also realize that an antique religious practice - which actually scars and harms a child - should not be continued just because one's ancestors followed the practice. It is now time for all people - including Jews and Moslems - to give up the practice of circumcision.
John, Kari—United Kingdom I have only found out about routine male circumcision in the USA in the past few weeks. I am British, and we do not do this here. I am both shocked and sickened that helpless babies are subjected to this barbaric torturous operation. It is not only wicked but degrading and a violation of a human being`s body; a living, feeling, human being who has just come into the world, helpless and innocent. That his earliest experience in life is to be excruitaingly mutilated is beyond my comprehension. There is no justifiable reason for doing such an evil thing.
Johnson, Benjamin—USA I didn't know until today that I had been mutilated. I am sad that my sexual experience will never be as nature intended. I am sad for myself and sad for my partner, for whom sex is frequently painful. No child of mine will be circumsized, and I will try to educate those around me.
Johnson, Henry—USA It is a very bizarre attitude to have to allow your child or chlidren in the world to be butchered by someone for no reason at all, should ban the use or requirement thoughout the world
Johnson, Mark—USA I feel that NO ONE has the right to cut off a portion of another's body (put there for a purpose, by their creator) without their express consent.
Johnson, Michael—USA I am, sadly, a circumcised white male. I resent not having been given a choice of consent for the removal of a part of my anatomy. I believe male circumcision is a archaic, cruel, criminal procedure, and should be given the same consideration as female genital mutilation. There is no good reason to continue this horrible practice, unless it is life or health threatening (such as severe phimosis). I do not believe the claims that it diminishes the transmission rate of HIV. Please do everything possible to make it illegal, here in the USA and any other allegedly civilized country across the globe.
Johnson, Robert—USA I believe the practice of genital mutilation is cruel, barbarous, and malicious, whether or not these characterizations are consciously perceived and acknowledged by the perpetrators. No benefit is received when an infant loses erogenous tissue designed to bring joy to men and women. The victims are helpless to defend themselves against this atrocity. They are doomed to a lifetime of reduced pleasure and happiness, plus the pain of the action--though consciously forgotten--endures in the unconscious causing lifelong neurotic ramifications. End genital mutilation now!
Jollie, Robin—USA there is nothing that makes it right to perform circumcision. period.
Jones—Canada The systemic genital crippling of the world's people must end.
Jones, John—United Kingdom Males should be left uncircumcised except for medical reasons or by adult preference but they do need to be instructed in genital hygiene and they do need to be aware of the special vulnerability of the inner surface of the foreskin to the Aids virus and should always use a condom in unsafe circumstrances. Female genitals should never be tampered with except for medical reasons.
Jones, Karen—USA There should be a special place in Hell for individuals who circumsize or have their children circumsized.
JORDAN,   PRESTON—USA Baby boys deserve to be protected from genital mutilation. If mothers had to be mutilated before the baby boys, circumcision would end instantly. Religious freedom ends where human rights begin. Be on the uncutting edge of American evolution and don't circumcise.
Jordan, Cathy—USA Choosing not to circumcise our son was the best decision my husband I have ever made. I am appalled at the practice and I am very frustrated with the culture or ignorance that allows this to continue. I feel that women are not making informed decisions about circumcision. My doctor came in and just said we'd do the circumcision tomorrow...no discussion. I told him otherwise, of course. But other women just "go with the flow" because that's what everyone else does. We should be informed of the procedure, the fact that NO anesthesia is used, and that it is completely medically unnecessary.
Jordan, William—Australia All children have a right to an intact body and being "all there".
Joyner, Stephanie—USA Circucision is genital mutilation, period.
Jump, Ian—USA Pschologically I imagine that the effects of circumcision, when relized, are similar to the effects of a woman who has just relized she has been raped. With this in mind why would a parent do this to their son or daughter?
JUNGLAS, Scot—USA ~Icrasons l'infme!
Justice, James—USA I totally disagree with any type of genital mutalation. There is know reason medically or scientifically for circumcision. Not that makes since anyway. I am 30 years old and not circumcised and have never had any problems, I didnt have it done to my children, and have tried to promote not having it done among my peers.
