Name—Country Comment
Taber, Dylan—USA Cutting off part of someone's penis is cruel to an extreme degree. Any culture that allows it, is sick.
Taillon, Jessica—USA Genital mutilation - regardless of the victim's gender - should be banned in all civilized nations.
Tan, Joel—Singapore The sawing off of genitals, especially forcibly sawing off of children's genitalia, is harmful, depraved, immoral, and is the ultimate violation of physical wellness, liberty and joy (sexual).
Tate, Amy—USA I am horrified that baby boys in this country are routinely mutilated. I want every baby to have the opportunity for a safe beginning.
Taylor—USA It is so unbelievable to me that the one nation that is supposed to be the harborer of all freedom and justice, is the one nation that harbors the most blatant and horrid of all rights violations; the violation of a childs' genitals. This MUST end! It must end in the U.S.A. and the whole world! There is NO excuse!
Taylor, John—Canada .
Taylor, Travis—USA This practice is abhorrent. Wanting your child to look like you is a selfish reason for circumcision. Claiming it is a part Christian belief shows ignorance of the new covenant. This terrible practice deprives male children of fully enjoying what God intended them to enjoy fully as adults. That is the creation of life through the sacrament of marriage to a woman. A real man does not mutilate his offspring and deprive him of a God given body part because of his own self-righteous ignorance. End it now! Doctors should be ashamed of themselves. "Do no harm?" Travis Taylor; Dalhart, Texas
Taylor Nicholson, Heather—United Kingdom I think circumcision - unless performed for dire medical reasons where there is no other option left - is an abhorrent barbaric practice and I am shocked to think that thousands upon thousands are subjected to this dreadful abuse. I hope sincerely that the petitition will be effective and future generations will be spared this humiliation.
Temple, Jessica—USA I believe that a parent should not be able to chose such a life changing thing for their own child. I see circumcision as a form of genital mutilation and think it is terrible. People see to thing FGM is a terrible thing because these women do not have a choice, when at their local hospital, there are infant boys being circumcised everyday.
Therrien, Amber—USA I firmly believe that both male and female infants, throughout the world, have an inalienable right to genital integrity. This barbaric form of mutilation will someday be viewed in the same light as foot-binding, as a severe custom of child abuse encouraged by ignorance. It is the responsibility of anyone in a position to do so to inform all parents of the risks of circumcision in the hopes of stopping this painful and unnecessary process.
Theys, Frank—Belgium
Thomas, Andrew—United Kingdom My circumcision has not just done excessive damage from painful erections, bad circumcisions, inability to masurbate and much much more; it had removed my ability to feel happy, and given me a constant sense of disconfort and helplessness. After I've started resoration, this has all sorted out. I WILL DO ANYTHING reasonable within my human capabilities to stop this CHILD ABUSE. All the people who have anything to do with this are perverted or uneducated. Also, it is unacceptable to circumcise because of "an infection" normally urinary tract infections are faked by the doctor, or if they aren't can ALWAYS be cured by cleaning and or antibiotics. P.s. in England, circumcisions are excessively common because of this excuse. Religeon is no exception, unless they personally agree after they are 18
Thomasson, Nathanael—USA I think that it should also be stated that in my personal encounters with others on this issue, I have found that it is almost always women pushing circumcisions on to their sons. And they tend to become very emotionally incensed & outwardly hostile when this issue is presented to them, even if offered in a calm & rational manner. Why is this? Why is it that numerous American women are so intent on cutting their kids & become infuriated when this topic is broached or questioned? I have found that husbands quite frequently DO NOT WANT TO BOTHERED with this topic & typically say they, "...don't care. I just go along with whatever the wife says." I feel that women should have NO say in chopping boys & MOTHERS especially, have NO business mutilating their sons. Any woman out there, who is pregnant with a boy & is planning to "automatically" circumcise their newborn son, should witness a 'real-life' CIRC in the FLESH before doing it. I don't think that as many women would support it then. In the days that Jesus Christ walked the Earth DEATH by CRUCIFICTION & STONNING were ordinary among other sadistic Biblical practices just as BURNING innocent people alive at the stake was common place in medieval times; does this mean these practices should be revived now as being socially prudent? It bothers me that women fight so fiercely to keep ABORTION LEGAL, which involves taking another life, & then on the flip side, either don't care or actually push to unnecessarily mutilate their own sons moreover out of sheer blind ignorance or because of some crazed, outdated religious fascism or both. THIS IS WRONG AND MUST STOP! Women have the RIGHT to CHOSE what happens with their bodies; why don't men?
Thompson, Pam—USA I never knew that infant circ was still legal in the US. That is until my boyfriend broke the news to me that he was cir'd. I was devastated by the knowledge of what he and I were both missing, and by the fact that hundreds of infants were and still are being mutilated like this on a daily basis. Going online to learn more, my heart was torn to bits reading the testimonials of men whose lives and bodies had also been permanently marred by this proceedure--all without their consent and under the complete protection of the law (or lack therof)! This barbaric practice must be stopped.
Thompson, Wendi—USA Please stop altering our perfect children, they are born as they are meant to be.
Thornton, Sharon—USA Even religion is not an excuse for genital mutilation. Hiding behind one's beliefs is a cop-out--it is often easier to say "my religion requires this" than it is to face the painful truth. Any religous dogma that requires sexual mutilation of infants or children needs to be reexamined by its followers.
Tichelaar, Janneke—Netherlands Make it stop!
Tierney, Heather—USA When I first became pregnant I knew I would circumcise.. no reason.. just its the norm, right? i started doing some research and decided that maybe I would not circumcise, but it should be up to the parent. Now.. after doing tons of research, I've realize just how blinded the American people are by the medical community when it comes to circumcision. It appauls me that genital mutilation is legal in the United States. I am an advocate of the child's right to choose. His body. His choice.
Tilden, Janet—USA Parents do not have the right to authorize removal of healthy, normal body parts for cultural reasons. Doctors must refuse to carry out this procedure, which is not in the best interests of the patient.
Timm, Hannah—USA We must stop altering nature and putting children/babies through this torture!
Tinson, Andrew The damage caused to me by circumcision at 6 weeks old has lasted a lifetime. If my parents had understood the deep emotional, psychological and physical harm this grotesque operation would do to me, they could never have agreed to it. Circumcision of baby boys must stop - it is sexual abuse.
Tobin, Thomas—USA Removing healthy tissue from a non-consenting infant is simply wrong, and denies them a choice that belongs only to them, and not to any well-meaning parent or medical personnel. There is no other body part which is removed when healthy. Why make an exception for circumcision? Especially when new benefits of foreskins are being found all the time, and the reasons for removing them are highly suspect, and don't bear up under scientific scrutiny.
Tolleson, George—USA Routine infant circumcision is a barbaric and medically unjustifiable Holdover from the antisexualism of the late 19th century.
Tomaszek, Lucky—USA Leave our babies alone! We don't come with extra parts...
tomba, alfredo—USA totally unnecessary procedure. ive had it both ways (age21) and sensitivity of glans was diminished.it is natural to be intact, and, besides, circumcision is a money maker for medical profession..there are too many myths re: ric...the population needs correct information, otherwise they "do as theyre told" by uninformed doctors..
Tompkins, Jeffrey—USA I think that circumcision is a cruel and unusual procedure. I implore members of congress to pass a bill making circumcision illigal.
Tompkins, Jeffrey—USA There is nothing wrong or shameful about the human penis. The foreskin was put there by God and there it shall stay. Lets spare our childen the horrific and unconstitutional procedure known as Circumcision for future generations to experience the plesure in having a foreskin.Keep the glans hidden:)
tooma, mikhael—Australia no one has the right impose their will to alter the genitals of another person without their informed consent ... not even parents have the right to impose this on their child ... It is the right and duty of a parnet to defend their child's fundamental right to the health and integrity of their body ...
Torngren, Pat—South Africa Circimcision of non-consenting infants is abuse of the worst kind. As someone who has undergone Primal Therapy, I have met many men who relived the trauma of their circumcisions as being a major trauma in their lives. To think that it was done without any anaesthetic shows how barbaric it is. Many of these men have connected this trauma to sexual dysfunction later in life.
Torngren, Patricia—South Africa Circumcision is barbaric and cruel. The pain caused to the baby leaves life long memory traces in the brain. People in the deep feeling regressive psychotherapies often relive their circumcision traumas as adults and are aware of problems in their lives caused by this trauma. The foreskin is an essential part of the human body and should not be tampered with. It serves many useful functions - the glans is designed to be an internal and not an external organ. Removing the foreskin can cause sexual dysfunction and emotional trauma. Female circumsision and infibulation are a crime against a little girl's body. The fact that it happens "somewhere else" (i.e. in Africa) is no reason for not taking action against it. It should be dealt with as a matter of priority by the World Health Organization.
Townsend, Anastacia—USA Genital Mutilation Must Be Outlawed! There is no humane reason for this violation of infants and children to continue. My two beautiful boys are intact and informed, My three daughters know the truth so that generations to come will never suffer this violence. We must all act to stop this brutality against humanity. No more passive silence or talerance. This family will not be silent!
Travis, John—USA "There is no single effort more radical in its potential for saving the world than a transformation of the way we raise our children." Marianne Williamson Welcome to the Alliance for Transforming the Lives of Children http://atlc.org
Tregilgas, Cynthia—USA I hope to see circumcision outlawed in the United States in my lifetime.
Tregillus, Elizabeth—USA I STRONGLY OJECT to my tax dollars being used for circumcision. I believe it is a form of child abuse, and am astonished that doctors continue to perform this unecessary and cruel procedure. If a parent brought a baby in and requested that their nose be surgically altered at 2 days of age so that it would look like the father's, no doctor would perform this procedure--yet it is less damaging and less traumatic than circumcision!
Trotter, Dave—USA One of the primary arguments for performing circumcision on newborns is that it can prevent them from suffering feelings of "being different." I think I heard that at last count, the rate in the US for non-circumcised boys was as high as 40%. Let's get that number up! Thanks, Dave
Tulley, Tara—USA I believe we shouldn't "Correct" what God gave man.
Turner, Andrew—USA Circumcision is harmful and unethical. No one has(had) the right to alter my body except for me. Such an infringement on one's basic human rights must not continue.
Turner, Stephanie—USA Whether it feels like the 'right thing' to do to some people, I believe this is wrong and unjust. The freedom of choice is the greatest of all the choices and freedoms we as people may come by; making that choice for someone whom cannot make it themselves is wrong no matter the case.
Tury, Lee—USA This practice of genital mutilation is barbaric, and a sin against the human race. It must be stopped. Babies are dying as a result of this unnecessary, ridiculous, tortuous procedure.
Tuschhoff, Kerry—USA Obviously genital mutilation is not necessary for anyone's health and the emotional physical pain is uselss and cruel. Stop doing it.
Tutko, Gregory—Canada Under no conditions should the forced removal of the prepuce be allowed. No medical or religious reason excuses the mutilation of our children. Male and female children are born incact and should be allowed to remain so. Our completeness in our sexual organs is not a birth defect needing correction by misguided practitioners of circumcision/excision/infibulation etc. Resoect for the dignity of human beings demands we do them no harm. Loving parents sould never seek to harm their own children. The teaching of doing no harm starts at birth. We are intact at birth and should remain so, with only the rarest exceptions due to accident or attempts to relieve suffering. Anything else is an intrusion of the dignity and safety of the person. It is mutilation at least, and torture in it's worst form when practised on children. I look forward to the day when genital mutilation shall be completely forgotten and totally absent from the Human community.
